Below are the most recent updates on the situation with the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant, which is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles

  • HYPERION DASHBOARD
    • The City is updating the Hyperion Dashboard to include milestone completion dates of the 33 LASAN Ad Hoc Committee recommendations; which is expected to be completed next week.
  •  AQMD
    • At the AQMD Hearing Board Meeting on January 24, 2024, the Board will review the status/progress on the orders of abatement issued to Hyperion and will discuss complaints / enforcement actions and if the Board should continue to put the case on the calendar for future meetings or not. The public can attend the meeting in-person or via zoom. Details are available here and on the Hyperion page of the City’s website.
  • HYPERION ACTIVITY
    • Over the past few weeks, Hyperion experienced two equipment shutdowns that resulted in digester gas flaring: a power outage on December 21st and an issue with the energy recovery equipment on January 3rd. Both issues have been resolved, AQMD was notified at the time of incident, and the flares posed no threat to the community.
