El Segundo Little League Wins the 2023 Title of Little League World Series Champions!
Congratulations to our El Segundo Little League 12U All-Star Little League World Series Champions! We are so proud of all that you've achieved, how you handled the pressure and represented our great city. We have incredible pride in our community; how everyone has shown up to support and celebrate this team is exactly why El Segundo is the best place to live, work, and visit. GO GUNDO!
El Segundo All-Star Parade Sunday, September 10th 12:00 p.m.
The celebration continues! Join us on Sunday, September 10th starting at 12:00 p.m. as our 12U All-Stars parade down Main Street, immediately followed by a Player Recognition Ceremony on Stevenson Field.
The parade is open to everyone and is free to attend!
Wristbands are required for entry to the Player Recognition Ceremony. A valid Rec ID is required for all wristband purchases. Rec IDs are available to El Segundo residents.
Wristbands for the Player Recognition Ceremony will be available for purchase at the Checkout Building, Clubhouse and Joslyn Center starting on September 5th (limited quantity). Wristbands are limited to 4 per person; two free wristbands with a valid Rec ID and $5 per additional wristband. El Segundo Firefighters Pancake Breakfast Sunday, September 10th 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Join us on Sunday, September 10th at Fire Station #1 for the annual El Segundo Firefighters Pancake Breakfast.
From 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., El Segundo firefighters will serve a delicious free pancake & bacon breakfast to the community to honor New York City firefighters who gave the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001. Donations are accepted, with all proceeds going to help local charities in El Segundo. This event would not be possible without our local businesses' generous donations of food and supplies. Neighborhood Watch Meeting – Thursday, September 7th
Empower your community! Join the Neighborhood Watch Team!
Combining the efforts of the residents and police makes the community safer, and the best way to start is by organizing a Neighborhood Watch group on your block! Open to all community residents.
Email ESPD Crime Prevention Analyst Sirena Boskovich at sboskovich@elsegundo.org to register for the first Neighborhood Watch meeting on Thursday, September 7th. CERT Training – Saturday, September 16th
El Segundo Fire Department's free Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training program is back! CERT is a volunteer organization of trained individuals from the community who will help during a major emergency. The training includes fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. It’s a great way to increase your skill set and help to keep your loved ones safe. The next in-person training is on Saturday, September 16th, at Fire Station 2. This is a hybrid course, and the online class must be completed before the in-person training. Downtown Specific Plan City Council Study Session Tuesday, September 19th
On Tuesday, September 19th, the City Council will hold a study session on the Draft Downtown Specific Plan at the City Council Meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber.
During the study session, City staff will present the draft Downtown Specific Plan to the public take public comments and direction from City Council to incorporate in a final draft of the Specific Plan. Comments or questions about the draft Downtown Specific Plan can be submitted to Principal Planner Paul Samaras at psamaras@elsegundo.org.

ES Connect Shuttle
Getting around El Segundo just got easier with El Segundo Connect, a pilot transportation program powered by Swoop. The free program runs through November 15th and runs Monday - Friday from 11:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. There are 16 stops throughout El Segundo that connect the businesses east of PCH and downtown El Segundo. Apply for All Building Permits via the E-Z Permit Hub
All building permitting is now available on the new online E-Z Permit Hub. This online service is available 24/7 and provides a single place for all building permit applications, plan submittals, fee payments, reviews, permit issuance, inspection requests, and communication points for City staff to improve processing.
Staff is still available at City Hall to assist with permit applications.

City of El Segundo Issued Highest AAA Credit Rating
The City of El Segundo is pleased to announce Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Global Ratings has raised its credit issuer rating from a AA+ to AAA, the highest rating a municipality can be assigned. S&P credited the City’s strong financial policies and practices by an established management team, continued commercial and corporate growth, and the quick revenue recovery of its well diversified and flexible general revenues following a decline during the global pandemic as reasons for the upgrade. Construction Activity Around Town
El Segundo Boulevard Improvement Project
Construction for the El Segundo Bvd. Improvement Project starts this month. The project rehabilitates existing pavement along El Segundo Blvd. (between Illinois St. and Isis Ave.) and Nash St. (between El Segundo Blvd. and Imperial Hwy). Additional improvements include installing curb ramps and bike lanes, traffic signal modifications, drainage modifications, and removing the ficus trees, replaced with drought-resistant alternatives. The project is expected to be completed in January 2024. More information and the project map can be found here. Funding is provided by community partner Metro.
Smoky Hollow Parking Pilot Project is underway. DASH Construction is conducting road re-striping and signage work for approximately six weeks as part of the project. Work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. "No Parking" signs will be posted with work dates along the impacted streets; expect traffic delays. Annual City Sidewalk, Curb, and Gutter Improvement Project continues through September 25th. Concrete removal, replacement, and repairs will be made on public property at various locations in the City. Work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Click here for more details and map.

Hyperion Update
The most recent updates on the situation with the Hyperion Water Reclamation Plant, which is owned and operated by the City of Los Angeles include:
- Bill AB 1216 passed the Senate Appropriations Committee Hearing and will go to a Senate Floor vote on a date to be determined. Track the bill's most recent language and status here.
- On August 16, 2023, the Mayor, members of City Council, the City Manager and Director of Public Works Elias Sassoon held a productive meeting with representatives from the offices of Senator Ben Allen, Congressman Ted Lieu, Supervisor Holly Mitchell, and City of LA Mayor Bass to discuss the situation with Hyperion.

City Hall's regular operating hours are:
- Monday - Thursday, 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
- Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Ed!toberfest Saturday, September 9th
El Segundo Education Foundation’s 3rd Annual “Ed!toberfest” event takes place on September 9th from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. at Chevron Park in El Segundo. The Oktoberfest-inspired event features beer tastings, contests, games, live auction items, an opportunity raffle, and music in a festive, casual, grown-ups-only, outdoor setting. The community fundraiser benefits the Ed! Foundation’s mission to fund and support programs in the El Segundo Unified School District. More details on the Ed! Foundation website.

Main Street Fair Saturday, Saturday, September 30th
The Main Street Fair, an outdoor celebration covering five city blocks with 120+ booths for artisans, designers, photographers, food, and live music, is set for Saturday, September 30th, from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The El Segundo Kiwanis Club produces the Main Street Fair is a fundraiser benefiting children’s needs throughout El Segundo and the South Bay. Check out all the details on the Kiwanis website!
