Summer Concert Series Returns!
Join us for Summer Concerts in the Park on select Sundays in June, July and August in Library Park. All concerts feature food trucks, so bring an appetite and get ready to get your groove on! Shows begin at 4:30 p.m. and end at 6:30 p.m. Blankets can be placed in the park after 1:00 p.m. and kids’ crafts and giveaways will be available in the Gazebo starting at 4:00 p.m. before each concert. Chairs are allowed, but no glass containers or plastic tarps, please. All ages are welcome to come and enjoy afternoons of great entertainment! Hyperion State of Emergency Update

Below are the most recent updates:
- On May 19, 2023, six weeks after a joint meeting with El Segundo City officials, Senator Ben Allen's office issued a joint letter with CA legislators to LASAN Director Barbara Romero urging expedited emission monitoring & mitigation at Hyperion. Click here to read the letter in its entirety.
- On May 18, 2023, bill AB 1216 passed the Assembly Floor vote. The bill is currently in the Senate with the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. Track the bill's most recent language and status here.
- On May 15th, Mayor Boyles, Councilmember Baldino, and City Manager Darrell George attended a productive introductory meeting with City of L.A. Councilmember Traci Park, members of her staff and the LA City Attorney’s office. They discussed a number of items, including the situation with Hyperion and the purpose and status of bill AB 1216.
- The next AQMD Hearing Board is scheduled for June 20th, an agenda for that hearing is forthcoming, and the info will be posted on the City Website.

El Segundo Honors Juneteenth
At the June 6th City Council meeting, El Segundo City Councilmembers will proclaim June 19th as Juneteenth Celebration Day in El Segundo. The proclamation urges all citizens to celebrate our diversity, reflect on the past, and look to the future. The National Museum of African American History and Culture has a dedicated Juneteenth page with lots of free resources to learn about the legacy of Juneteenth. Click here to check it out.

Summer Library Programs for All Ages
The El Segundo Public Library is ready for summer! Learn about the best summer reads from Penguin Random House rep, Liz Camford on Saturday June 3 at Book Buzz Tea. Daddy & Me Storytime - Sunday, June11th
Please join us at Fire Station No. 1 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. for a Daddy & Me poetry reading and activity with El Segundo's Poet Laureate Hope Anita Smith and Fire Department Engineer Clayton Holt!
Readers will recite selected poems from Smith's book My Daddy Rules the World and will have the opportunity to create and read their own "My Daddy is a Superhero" poem aloud. Donuts, milk, juice and coffee will be served. No reservation is required.
This event, free and open to all families, is funded by the El Segundo Cultural Development Program and is a collaboration between El Segundo Public Library and El Segundo Fire Department.

Teen Center Open House - Wednesday, June 14th

ESPD Pink Patch Dodger Game Purchase Tickets by Friday, June 30th
It’s that time of year again! The Pink Patch Project Dodger game is just around the corner! The game will take place on Friday, August 18th at 7:10 PM against the Miami Marlins. Tickets are $50.00 each and proceeds go to the non-profit Helen's Room. Your $50 will include a ticket, commemorative 10-year Pink Patch, along with a Pink Patch pin. 4th of July Wristbands Available
El Segundo's Annual 4th of July Celebration is just a few weeks away! Daytime events start at 10:00 am with classic family entertainment and contests, the nighttime events feature live music, food booths and finish with s spectacular fireworks show. Wristbands for the 4th of July evening events at Softball and Stevenson fields are now available at the Clubhouse and Checkout Building in Recreation Park through July 3rd. El Segundo Residents can receive a maximum of four free wristbands per adult with a 2023 Rec ID Card. For questions about the event, call 310-524-2700.

Scattergood Public Meeting about Green Hydrogen Project Tuesday, June 6th
On Tuesday, June 6th at 7:00 p.m., L.A. Department of Water and Power will hold a virtual public scoping meeting about the plan to convert Scattergood Generating Station, the largest power plant in Los Angeles and located adjacent to El Segundo, into a green hydrogen plant. It has been over a year since the City launched its new website for water bill payments. The old website will be deactivated June 30, 2023. Registration is Open! Summer Recreation Classes, Camps, & Activities
Summer camps and classes are almost here! Summer camps will run from June 12th – August 18th. There are lots of camps for all age groups ranging from beach activities to Legos, and filmmaking, to art, and more. Visit the Summer Camps page to view each of the camps, we have something for everyone!
If you’re looking for a class, we’ve got you covered. Many of our summer classes are starting in June and July going through August. We have classes featuring fitness, art, dance, and water fitness. Youth and tot classes include arts, enrichment, sports, and dance. Registration is open to both residents and non-residents on esrec.org. You can also visit us in-person at the Clubhouse or Checkout Building in Recreation Park to register. Bulky Item Pick Up
Have bulky items you need picked up? It's as simple as calling EDCO! Residential single-family homes and duplexes can get up to four free bulky item pick ups each calendar year. To schedule a pick up, call EDCO at least two days prior to your normal weekly collection day at 310-540-2977. On your collection day, place the items at the curb alongside your collection carts by 7:00 a.m. and a separate truck will come to collect the items.
As a reminder, dumping unwanted bulky items is illegal and can result in fines.

Hilltop Pool is Open!
Summer is almost here, which means it's time to hit the pool! Hilltop Pool is now open from 12:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. on weekends only through June 11th. Hilltop pool will be open every day, starting June 12th through August 21st (and again weekends only August 22nd - September 4th). El Segundo residents with a valid 2023 Rec ID are free and the cost for non-residents is $6.00 for adults/ $4.00 for youth per day. Space can be rented to host a party on Thursdays – Sundays from 12:00 p.m.– 5:00 p.m. with a 2-hour minimum for 1 to 20 guests. Reservations must be made ten days in advance. Picnic bench rentals are available through esrec.org or call 310-524-2700. For all inquiries, please email aquatics@elsegundo.org.
