Proclamation of Local Emergency & Emergency Order Due to COVID-19- March 16

Coronavirus Update
March 16, 2020

The El Segundo City Manager issued a Proclamation of Local Emergency and Administrative Order effective 3 p.m. today, March 16, 2020, until March 31, 2020 at 12:00 p.m.  City Council confirmation will occur at the March 17, 2020 City Council meeting.

The following establishments within the City of El Segundo will be temporarily closed to the public:

  • All bars, breweries, wine lounges, cigar lounges and nightclubs that do not serve food will be closed to the public. 
  • Any bars, breweries, wine lounges, cigar lounges or nightclubs in the City of El Segundo that serve food may remain open only for the purposes of continuing to prepare and offer food to customers via delivery service or to be picked-up. Dine-in food service is prohibited. For establishments offering food pick-up, proprietors are directed to establish social distancing for those in the line for pick-up. 

These restrictions do not apply to:

  • Cafeterias, commissaries, nursing homes, or similar facilities 
  • Grocery stores
  • Pharmacies 
  • Food banks 

To assist community members over age 65 who are in home isolation, or others who are otherwise unable to shop for essential supplies as a result of restrictions, the City of El Segundo's Recreation & Parks Department in partnership with the El Segundo Rotary Club have created a shopping assistance program for essential supplies. To request assistance please contact the Joslyn Center at 310-524-2705 or to volunteer contact the Rotary Club. Additional details and information to be shared as soon as available. 

The El Segundo Chamber has partnered with local restaurants to create a pick-up and delivery program called "Gundo-to-Go" for easy curbside pick up. Check the list on local restaurants on the Destination El Segundo website and call to see if they are offering delivery or pick-up tonight.
