State Route 193 Closure Monday 11/3 at 6 a.m. through Friday 11/7 at 7 p.m.
From: John O’Connell Caltrans District 3 Public Information Officer Direct: (530) 701-9459 Office: (530) 741-4572 john.oconnell@dot.ca.gov
State Route 193 will be under a full closure (both directions 24/7) starting Monday 11/3 at 6 a.m. through Friday 11/7 at 7 p.m. for an emergency culvert repair just east of Greenwood at the postmile shown on the map below.
Detour info: If you are traveling from Georgetown to Greenwood/Cool motorists can take 193 south towards Placerville to 49 and then head north on 49 to reach Cool and 193 to reach Greenwood.
If you are traveling from Cool/Greenwood to Georgetown motorists can take 49 south towards Placerville and then head back north on 193 to get to Georgetown.
County roads are available as well, but since this is a Caltrans project we encourage motorists to use the state highways.
Please note that SR 193 will be open EXCEPT at this one location, it’s a short closure but unfortunately it’s both directions 24/7 which requires the lengthy detours to get around it.

Each year, El Dorado County identifies County Emphasis Areas and is in the process of conducting defensible space inspections in partnership with local fire districts. The goal of these inspections is to provide homeowners valuable information on how they can meet their defensible space requirement and make their homes more resilient to wildfire.
This year’s County Emphasis Areas include Georgetown and Garden Valley. Details and maps of the County Emphasis Areas are available here: www.eldoradocounty.ca.gov/Public-Safety-Justice/Wildfire-Disaster/Office-of-Wildfire-Preparedness-and-Resilience/Defensible-Space/County-Emphasis-Areas
Residents in the Georgetown and Garden Valley County Emphasis Areas should have received notification of inspection timeframes and an invitation to the local informational workshop.

California Fair Plan Discounts are Changing November 15th Please talk to your Agent for more information.
Please be aware that due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, CalFresh food benefits will not be available for the month of November.
While we hope the shutdown is resolved soon, the State of California has begun to formally notify recipients that benefits will be delayed or unavailable.
This does not mean your CalFresh case is closed or a change in eligibility. Recipients are urged to continue to fulfill all required reporting, including Semi-Annual Reports (SAR 7) and renewals, as well as submitting any necessary verifications. This helps ensure your benefits can resume as soon as possible once funding becomes available.
We also encourage residents who are considering applying for CalFresh or other assistance programs to go ahead and apply. Visit BenefitsCal.com to apply.
If you require immediate food assistance, you may visit a local food pantry or community food distribution site.
El Dorado County Health and Human Services remains committed to keeping residents informed as new information becomes available, and we are hopeful that the federal shutdown will be resolved soon.
