The El Dorado County Senior Nutrition Program is currently looking for community volunteers to help at its congregate dining sites. There are multiple open volunteer slots. Volunteers generally help one day per week from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
"We are currently looking for friendly people who would love to help us at our congregate meal sites," said Jillien Smith, Program Supervisor with El Dorado County Senior Services. "We need help with things such as greeting seniors, signing them in at our front desk, setting tables, serving meals, and more. Anyone who enjoys volunteering and socializing with seniors is encouraged to apply for one of our volunteer positions. Currently, volunteers are especially needed for the El Dorado Hills and Cameron Park congregate dining sites."
The Senior Nutrition Program provides nutritious lunchtime meals for people aged 60 and older for a suggested donation of $3 per meal at one of several congregate meal sites located throughout El Dorado County. In addition to a healthy meal, the program gives an opportunity for older adults to socialize and connect with others, learn about community resources, local senior activities and more.
For a volunteer application and to learn more about the Senior Nutrition Program, please call (530) 621-6160. The Senior Nutrition Program is one of many senior service programs of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency https://www.edcgov.us/SeniorService.aspx
California is exploring an alternative to the gas tax and wants to understand the unique impacts to communities.
Video of the 2-2-23 EDCTC Road User Charge Pilot Program presentation.
The 2023 California Road Charge Public/Private Roads Pilot will gather essential information for evaluating how a road charge program could address travel on and off public, private, and tribal roadways in California. The state is offering incentives of up to $250 for participants in the seven month pilot launching in March 2023.
In the pilot, participants will be given a device for their car to capture their miles traveled and whether the vehicle is traveling on public, private, or tribal lands in California (or out of state). Data will be captured securely through a third party account manager, and vehicle location information will be sanitized (deleted and non-recoverable from collection devices). Caltrans will not receive any location-specific data from pilot participants’ unique vehicle.
With Road Charge
- California could replace the gas tax with a mileage-based user fee charged to drivers who use the roads. The more you drive, the more you pay for highway and road repairs. The less you drive, the less you pay.
- Everyone would pay their fair share for road repairs based on how much they drive, not the kind of car they own.
- California is working to develop a road charge program that is fair, transparent, and sustainable so that it meets our road maintenance needs now and in the future.
