River Water Quality Advisory

On Thursday (7/8/21) the river water at North Beach, Henningsen Lotus Park and Greenwood Creek tested high for E. Coli. This is not unusual in a drought year and when we have days with no water release. There are currently signs posted in these areas, additional samples will be taken and signage adjusted accordingly.

Cooling Centers and Excessive Heat Warning

Updated 7/9/21 at 1pm

⚠️Excessive Heat Warning began 7/9/21 at noon.
⚠️Hottest days will be Saturday & Sunday.

Take an active role in your health & safety during the hot days ahead.

  • Use your air conditioner if you have one. If you are able, safely visit friends, neighbors or family members who have air conditioning.
  • Check on neighbors that are at risk.
  • Know where you can safely go to cool off, including air-conditioned locations such as libraries, malls, stores, coffee shops. Even a few hours spent in air conditioning can help.

The Georgetown and Placerville libraries will have extended hours on Saturday and Sunday for cooling centers.
Saturday 10am - 5pm
Sunday 12pm - 5pm

Emergency Preparedness will be providing the libraries with ice chests, ice and water. Current policies regarding COVID will apply; no additional requirements need to be implemented.

Libraries are a great place to go to learn something new or just "chill" during the upcoming heat wave.
