Auburn State Recreation Area
Final Environmental Documents
Now Available

California State Parks and the Bureau of Reclamation have released the Final Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS) for the Auburn State Recreation Area Preliminary General Plan and Auburn Project Lands Draft Resource Management Plan(GP/Draft RMP).

“The Preliminary GP/Draft RMP does not approve the development of any individual facilities because those facilities would be required to undergo a subsequent project-level planning process, including project design, public input, and environmental review.”

The Final EIR/EIS includes responses to all of the comments received during the public comment period for the Preliminary GP/Draft RMP and the Draft EIR/EIS( July 2019). As part of the consideration of the public comments, State Parks and Reclamation have made some revisions to the proposed action for the GP/RMP which are also documented in the Final EIR/EIS and include reducing the additional camping capacity allowed under the Plan from 235 to 142 campsites.

 Childhood Vaccination Advisory

“In California and across the U.S., recent data shows troubling decreases in childhood vaccination, leaving many children unprotected,” said Lynnan Svensson, El Dorado County Public Health Nursing Manager. “Comparing the months of April 2019 and April 2020, the number of shots given to children 0 through 18 years old in California decreased by more than 40 percent.”

According to Svensson, El Dorado County medical providers and pharmacies are now open to help infants and children catch up on their routine immunizations. “It’s recommended that parents contact their child’s doctor for an appointment as soon as possible and discuss with the provider's receptionist any concerns about visiting the office."

For individuals who are out of work or without health insurance, El Dorado County Public Health offers infant and children's vaccines for free. Children must be 0 through 18 years of age, uninsured, underinsured, Medi-Cal eligible, Alaska Native or American Indian. For questions or to schedule a vaccination appointment with Public Health, call (530) 621-6100 in Placerville or (530) 573-3155 in South Lake Tahoe.

El Dorado County Public Health Nursing also offers free walk-in vaccination clinics for uninsured children or those on Medi-Cal at designated community locations in El Dorado County each year. For dates and locations of walk-in vaccination clinics, visit www.edcgov.us/publichealth or call Public Health.

Conservation Easement Program gets Approval from Board

On June 23, 2020 the Board approved the El Dorado County Agricultural Conservation Easement Program Program Guidelines with Item 43. 19-1782.

An Agricultural Conservation Easement program is another tool that can protect farm and grazing lands. The program involves the voluntary purchase or donation of development rights from willing landowners to public agencies or nonprofit organizations such as a land trust. The easement can be tailored to meet conservation objectives and allows farming/ranching to continue. It is a deed restriction that runs with the land in perpetuity. Easement prices are established by an appraiser with the expertise to segregate the value of the development rights. Voluntary funds collected from property owners or developers requesting General Plan Amendments can be held in a trust by the public agency or transferred to a nonprofit like the Community Foundation.

We will be open during normal operating hours:
Tuesday & Wednesday 12:00-7:00

and Saturday 10:00-3:00.

There will be some modifications to how we will be operating. We will continue to do curbside hold pick-ups during regular open hours for those who have no other library business or are still trying to physically distance. We ask that you wash or sanitize your hands before and after using the library. Keep 6 feet of physical distance between yourself and non-members of your household. Masks are required at all times, if you don’t have one we will provide it. Please be mindful of the amount of time you spend in the library. Due to limited capacity a 30 minute time limit may be enforced and you may be asked to wait for a few minutes before entering the building.
And most importantly please BE KIND to everyone while we work out the kinks and get used to the new systems.
