Garden Park Defensible Space Inspection Notices

Veg Mgt Letter Head

In February 2020, the El Dorado County Vegetation Management Program sent out an Initial Duty to Abate Notice to two County Emphasis Areas (CEA); Johntown/Garden Park area in Garden Valley, and Sly Park area in Pollock Pines. The letter identifies parcels planned for proactive defensible space inspections by County designated officials.

The CEAs are identified annually in collaboration with CAL FIRE using a combination of the following criteria/methodology:

~ Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone rating
~ Call volume to a specific area
~ Structural density of an area
~ Ingress and egress in an area
~ Fire history and/or ignition patterns
~ Prevailing weather patterns
~ Wildland Urban Interface (WUI)
~ Topography
~ Existing defensible space inspection (Public Resources Code 4291) data

To see a map of the Johntown/Garden Park area residences that were sent a notice, click here:  https://www.edcgov.us/Government/CAO/VegetationManagement/Documents/Johntown-Garden%20Park%20CEA.pdf

Community meetings will be conducted in these areas to assist residents to achieve compliance with the ordinance and answer questions.  Posting of community meetings and many other resources are available on the Vegetation Management Website at:  https://www.edcgov.us/Government/CAO/VegetationManagement
