Choose IPM: Mosquito Prevention

Mosquitoes are a nuisance pest because they bite people and can transmit diseases like West Nile Virus. For successful management of mosquitoes, it is important to break their life cycle by removing breeding sites, which stops them from becoming adults and biting people. Check out DPR's School IPM Program's mosquito management resources to effectively, safely, and more sustainably manage mosquitoes. 

Mosquito IPM at Schools

Managing mosquitoes at schools is important because they can transmit diseases, and their bites lead to irritation, annoyance, and allergic reaction. Mosquitoes depend on standing water to complete their life cycle, so it is important to remove these sources of water. Check out our infographic on how to address common areas with standing water at schools.

Mosquito IPM at Home

Rather than using pesticide sprays to target adult mosquitoes, which doesn't provide long term control, focus on eliminating mosquito breeding sites. Check out these common areas found around homes and schools where mosquitoes can breed.
