Document Update: Revised DSA Interpretation of Regulations: IR 16-11 and IR 21-1

The Division of the State Architect (DSA) has revised IR 16-11: Seismic Out-Of-Plane Forces for Non-Bearing Non-Shear Concrete and Masonry Walls: 2022 CBC and IR 21-1: Non-Bearing Non-Shear Masonry Walls: 2022 CBC which are accessible on DSA’s Publications webpage.

IR 16-11 was revised due to the 2022 California Building Code (CBC). Other notable changes include an updated Ω_o factor and clarification of the load pattern for seismic load on free-standing cantilever site walls.

IR 21-1 was revised due to the 2022 CBC. Other notable changes include an updated Appendix A Table and footnotes.
