When Does my Eligibility to Self-Certify Expire?

Expiration dates are approximately three years following the completion of the California Department of Food and Agriculture Fertilizer Research and Education Program (CDFA FREP) Irrigation and Nitrogen Management Training Program. Expiration dates can be found in your letter of eligibility.
To renew your eligibility to self-certify your Irrigation and Nitrogen Management Plan (INMP) Worksheets, you must complete three hours of INMP Credits prior to the expiration date. Courses and events approved for INMP Credits focus on irrigation and nitrogen management topics, which can be found at: CDFA - Fertilizer Research And Education Program - Continuing Education.

Which CDFA FREP Irrigation & Nitrogen Management Training Program (INMTP) should I take?

Currently, CDFA offers training programs for the Central Valley and Ventura County. In the near future, the Ventura training will also be offered in Spanish. Both training courses have a workbook to assist growers in completing the training that can be found at: CDFA - FREP - Irrigation & Nitrogen Management Training Program.

Through the Nitrogen and Irrigation Initiative (NII), growers who self-certify their Irrigation and Nitrogen Management Plan (INMP) worksheets in the San Joaquin Valley can receive one hour of continuing education units (CEUs) per calendar year through an on-farm consultation.
During the free consultation, NII farm advisors and their staff will work with you to identify management practices, monitoring techniques and infrastructural upgrades that can increase efficiency with nitrogen fertilizer and water use. The goal of the consultation is to provide recommendations and help implement best management practices tailored to your operation.
Upon completion of an NII consultation, farm advisors and staff will submit information to FREP on your behalf. FREP staff will send a Certificate of Course Completion once the information has been processed. Participants will receive credit based on the day of the consultation, so all December consultations will count toward required CEUs for those expiring on December 31, 2025, if you haven’t already claimed the credit earlier in the year. A certificate will be sent via email within one month of the consultation.
