Grant Project Highlights
California Farm to School Incubator Grant Program grantees are hard at work implementing grant projects and transforming the school food system! Read below to learn more about the Ventura County Farm to School's grant project!
The Ventura County Farm to School (VCF2S) was awarded California Farm to School Incubator Grant Program funds to establish a school food hub with a small regenerative farm collaborative, source and deliver crops to participating districts, and fund two new staff to expand nutrition, garden, and food system education to more schools in the county.
Recently, VCF2S provided the opportunity for 1,000 students to try blood oranges! Using the CA Farmland Trust “Orange you glad we have farmland” lesson, VCF2S helped students to learn just how small the amount of land on earth is used to grow all of the world’s food. Students also tried Cara Cara oranges and tangerines, and voted for their favorite!
