Dear Neighbors,
I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July and were able to enjoy time with family, friends, and neighbors. A heartfelt thank you to the residents, volunteers, City staff, and public safety personnel who helped make this year’s Cupertino celebration such a success. I also want to thank our Councilmembers for joining in the festivities, connecting with families, and helping bring such a warm community spirit to the day.
The City continues to make progress on important priorities, including the adoption of Cupertino’s first biannual Strategic Plan and the acquisition of the Finch Property for future parkland and open space. Council is also considering a local revenue measure for the November ballot to help address long-term infrastructure and service needs.
In this edition, you’ll find updates on new accessibility features for City Council meetings, including closed captioning and live translation in Standard Chinese, as well as regional wildfire preparedness resources to help households stay ready.
As August approaches, the City Council and this newsletter will take a short summer break, but there will be tons of recreation activities here: cupertino.gov/recreation. We will also celebrate the India Independence Day Flag Raising on August 17.
I hope you have a restful and enjoyable remainder of the summer, and I look forward to reconnecting with you in September. Thank you, as always, for staying engaged and connected as we continue working together for Cupertino.

Warm Regards,
 Tina Kapoor

New Accessibility Features for Council Meetings
The City has introduced two new accessibility features for City Council meetings in support of California Senate Bill 707 (SB 707). Since July 1, closed captioning has been available on the City's Comcast Channel (Channels 24 and 26) and on meeting videos on the City's website.
The City also launched Wordly live translation during the July 7 City Council meeting. The service provides real-time translation and captioning in Standard Chinese, allowing residents to follow meetings on their personal devices through a QR code or link included on City Council agendas. The addition helps Cupertino meet SB 707 requirements to provide translation services in languages spoken at home by at least 20% of the population. These new services will make it easier for more residents to access and participate in City government meetings.
