Second Annual Walk n' Roll Bingo- All Wrapped Up!
The results are in and Walk n’ Roll Bingo year two was a big success! What’s Walk n' Roll Bingo, you ask? Think Bingo, but an active, move-your-body kind of version. The board was full of activities related to walking, biking, scootering, and being out and about safely with friends and family. Participants had the month of May to play and turn their boards into the Cupertino library for prizes, either with bingo or blackout! After collecting all the boards and tallying the results, the stats are in!
We had 44 students participate this year (almost double last year) from 14 different schools! All entries received a fun prize for completing a bingo (one row or column or diagonal), and 10 bike light sets were raffled off among the fully completed cards (blackouts).
All bingo squares included a question, alongside the activity, that participants needed to answer. Some of the cutest and most unique answers we received this year were:
-
What’s your favorite thing about walking? “Talking about things while moving” and “Everything! And the peacefulness of nature.”
-
What’s your favorite thing about biking? “Moving faster than walking, and the breeze.” And “The feel of the tires.”
-
How did you feel after biking or scootering 5+ miles in a day? “Motivated, accomplished, and happy.”
-
What errand did you do by biking, walking, or scootering? “Gathered mint leaves for my mom.” And “Mailed a letter.”
-
What did you learn with the ABC Quick Check? “That bikes have a lot of parts!” And “Bike is good.”

Thank You SRTS High School Reps!
We recently finished our year of monthly Safe Routes to School Working Group meetings by highlighting the work of each high school student representative team from SY 2025-2026. All the students, alongside their admin support, work hard all year to bring Safe Routes to School education and awareness to their school communities. Each team gave presentations summarizing their experiences, accomplishments, lessons learned, and tips for next year.
Some highlights from each of our schools:
-
Cupertino High School: Hosted another year of Bike Trains to 9th Grade Orientation Day, received and donated 20 bikes as part of their bike drive, hosted a Mini Bike Fest encouraging and educating students about active transportation, and handed out over 300 donuts to students who walked, biked, or used other forms of active transportation!
-
Homestead High School: Held a Bike Bonanza bicycle encouragement event on their campus, fixed over 20 bikes at a school bicycle repair clinic, handed out 336 donuts to students who didn’t drive to school, won the county-wide Bike Rack Decorating Contest, and advocated to their City Council to bring bike lanes to Hollenbeck Avenue!
-
Monta Vista High School: Gave out 244 donuts to students who walked, biked, or took active transportation to school, held a free bike repair clinic on campus, hosted a Mini Bike Fest and Climate Carnival at lunch for their students, and tabled at multiple city-wide events!
We celebrate our six High School Reps for their great work and dedication to our program this year. We will miss our awesome graduating seniors, and we will welcome the new reps who start their work in Fall 2026! There are already so many great ideas to make each campus program even better next year.

Student and guardian both need to bring a bike and helmet.
