 Hello Neighbors,
The City continues to highlight the people, programs, and services that support the Cupertino community. Last week, Cupertino celebrated Public Service Recognition Week to honor the dedication of employees who serve the community every day. As part of the celebration, a Staff Appreciation Lunch was held at Creekside Park, giving employees an opportunity to connect with colleagues and celebrate the important work being done for the community. Department-specific recognitions have also begun being incorporated into City Council meetings as part of a year-round employee recognition program. Recognition efforts will continue during National Public Works Week, May 17–23, highlighting the teams that maintain and improve Cupertino’s infrastructure, environment, and essential services.
The Parks and Recreation Department was also recently recognized by the California Parks and Recreation Society for excellence, honoring staff, volunteers, and innovative programs that enhance quality of life in Cupertino.
Community recognition efforts also extended to Cupertino resident Mr. Sanyasi Chetty Mummidivarapu, who was honored by the City Council on May 5 during the City’s first 100th Birthday Recognition ceremony, beginning a new tradition celebrating residents reaching this milestone.
The FY 2026–27 Proposed Budget is now available for public review, and I encourage you to explore the priorities and investments that will help guide the year ahead. As part of ongoing organizational improvements, the City Council recently initiated the renaming of the Department of Administrative Services to the Department of Finance.
I’d also like to remind our business community that the Business License Amnesty Program concludes on May 28. This limited-time program offers reduced penalties for businesses working to resolve outstanding licensing issues, and we encourage anyone who may be affected to take advantage of this opportunity before it ends.
I’m looking forward to Bike to Work Day and this weekend’s creek cleanup, both part of Mayor Kitty Moore’s Mayor’s Initiative, along with other events this spring. For Bike to Work Day, stop by the City’s Energizer Station at the corner of Stelling Road and McClellan Road to pick up a flyer with exclusive discounts and offers from participating Cupertino businesses. You can also visit the City’s Explore Cupertino page to view a complete list of participating businesses, deals, and promotions available on Bike to Work Day at cupertino.gov/explorecupertino.
Thank you for staying engaged and connected with Cupertino.

Warm Regards,
 Tina Kapoor
