India Independence Day Flag Raising
The City of Cupertino and Cupertino-Bhubaneswar Sister City Initiative hosted the 79th India Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony today, August 15. Thank you to everyone who came out and joined the celebration!
Apply for Economic Development Committee
The application deadline to apply for positions on the Economic Development Committee has been extended to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, September 2. The City Council will conduct interviews beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, September 15. For more information about this committee, the application process, and additional vacancies available, please visit: cupertino.gov/vacancies.
Introducing Cupertino Restaurant Week
In celebration of Cupertino’s 70th anniversary, the City is proud to announce its first-ever Restaurant Week, happening Monday, October 6 to Friday, October 12. This exciting new campaign will invite the community to support local dining spots while enjoying exclusive promotions and specials from participating restaurants. For more details and a full list of participating restaurants, visit cupertino.gov/taste70. The full list of participating restaurants will be available starting Monday, September 15. Let’s eat local, celebrate local, and enjoy everything our community has to offer.

2025 CREST Awards Nomination Deadline Approaching!

San Jose Water Upgrading Pipeline on Rainbow Drive
San Jose Water is installing a new liner inside the existing transmission main on Rainbow Drive. This innovative technology helps prevent leaks, strengthens the pipeline, and extends its lifespan, ensuring Cupertino continues to receive clean, reliable water for years to come.
Increased traffic is expected in the area. The construction project is planned to continue through the end of October, and resurfacing and striping work to complete the project is planned for November.
Back for More: Bobateeno 2025!
Bobateeno returns to Cupertino for an afternoon of flavor, fun, and unforgettable memories. This teen-focused event welcomes all youth organizations to host a free showcase table and connect with the community. Booth registration is now open at bobateeno.org. Join the celebration on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cupertino Civic Center Plaza, located in front of Community Hall.

Q1 2025 Sales Tax Update
Cupertino’s latest sales tax report shows growth in casual dining, gas stations, grocery stores, specialty shops, sporting goods/bike stores, and garden/ag supply stores. Overall sales were slightly down compared to last year.
Top sales tax contributors included Apple, Safeway, Target, 99 Ranch Market, and many local favorites like Haidilao Hot Pot, BJ’s, and Lazy Dog Café. Quarterly Sales Tax Reports can be found on the City’s website at cupertino.gov/budgetreport.

New Business - HEYTEA
Love boba tea? A new boba tea café, HEYTEA, is at 19469 Stevens Creek Boulevard in Main Street, Cupertino. Pasta Armellino formerly occupied the space. HEYTEA’s new location marks an exciting addition to Cupertino’s food scene.
Get Wildfire Ready: Join a 2025 Preparedness Workshop
Wildfire season is here! The City of Cupertino and the Santa Clara County Fire Department invite you to get prepared by joining the 2025 Wildfire Preparedness Workshop. This free event will cover the “Ready, Set, Go!” model and connect you with resources from local emergency agencies.

Lehigh Townhall Recap
Santa Clara County Supervisor Margaret Abe-Koga hosted a community meeting on Thursday, July 31, at the Quinlan Community Center, to discuss the current status of the Lehigh/Heidelberg Cement Plant and Permanente Quarry. The event provided updates, shared key information, and offered residents an opportunity to ask questions and voice concerns.
