Cooking Experience with Chef Ronald Pei & Chef Grace Zhou
Join the City of Cupertino for a free live induction cooking event on Wednesday, June 25, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Quinlan Community Center. Chefs Ronald Pei and Grace Zhou will demonstrate how induction cooking is faster, safer, and more energy efficient—without compromising flavor or tradition. Guests can enjoy food samples like garlic noodles and chocolate strawberries, watch live cooking demos, learn about energy-saving rebates, and enter a drawing to win a portable induction cooktop and cookware.

Stevens Creek Bridge Repair Project
The City has begun a feasibility study to determine repair options for the Stevens Creek Bridge located on Stevens Creek Boulevard, 0.4 miles east of Foothill Boulevard. This Stevens Creek Bridge project is a CIP project approved in fiscal year 2024 that aims to repair the bridge. The City’s sub-consultant completed preliminary surveying of the roadway and creek on June 2 and will also perform geotechnical investigation work, including drilling two boreholes, on June 26 and June 27. Minor traffic control delays can be expected; please plan your travels accordingly.
City Manager Pamela Wu Settlement Agreement
On Friday, June 6, City Council reached a settlement with Pamela Wu, who, as part of the settlement agreement, stepped down from the position of City Manager after being placed on administrative leave on May 2.

Cupertino Trash Rules: A Quick Guide for Residents
To keep Cupertino clean and safe, local law (CMC § 6.24) sets clear rules for trash and recycling. Here's what you need to know:
Key Guidelines

Sign Up for Service: Residents must register with the City's waste provider within 10 days of moving in (unless exempt).

Weekly Pickup: Trash must be set out at least once a week. Dry recyclables can be stored for up to a month.

Use Proper Containers:
- Only use City-provided bins.
- Keep lids closed except during use.
- Don't overfill bins and sort waste correctly.

Follow Timing Rules:
- Place bins out no more than 24 hours before or after pickup.
- If they block a bike lane, remove them within 12 hours post-service.

No Burning: Burning waste is not allowed.

Cupertino Teaches Climate Action at Kennedy Middle
On Wednesday, May 28, staff from Cupertino’s Environmental Programs and Sustainability Division visited Kennedy Middle School’s 8th grade science classes to give a presentation on local environmental initiatives and the importance of climate action. A total of 323 students participated in an interactive lesson, including a Jeopardy-style game, covering key local initiatives such as Safe Routes to School, the Via Shuttle, Single-use Plastics Ordinance, building electrification, carbon sequestration, water conservation, and pollution prevention. The presentation also introduced students to the Sustainability and Teen Commissions, inspiring them to get involved and make a difference in their community.

Get Wildfire Ready: Join a 2025 Preparedness Workshop
Wildfire season is approaching, and the City of Cupertino and the Santa Clara County Fire Department encourages residents to prepare by attending the 2025 Wildfire Preparedness Workshops. These free events will cover the “Ready, Set, Go!” model and offer resources from local emergency agencies.
