The City of Cupertino and Santa Clara County Department of Agriculture and Environmental Management are partnering to reduce fire hazards caused by overgrown vegetation and flammable materials. Property owners must meet Minimum Fire Safety Standards (MFSS) by Wednesday, April 30 and maintain them throughout fire season.
- Vegetation must be kept below six inches in height.
- County staff will inspect properties from April 30 through the end of October.
- Non-compliant properties will be cleared at the owner's expense.
- Fees, including an inspection fee, will be added to the property tax bill for non-compliant properties.
