Earth and Arbor Day Festival
Join the City of Cupertino on Saturday, April 5, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Library Field, 10400 Torre Avenue, for the annual Earth and Arbor Day Festival. With nearly 100 booths hosted by local nonprofits and businesses, the festival offers interactive activities, eco-friendly crafts, and valuable sustainability resources. Attendees will enjoy live entertainment, engage with hands-on exhibits, and discover simple ways to positively impact the environment. Plus, grab a bite from a variety of food trucks serving fresh, delicious meals for purchase!

Be Prepared: Wildfire Updates and Workshops
Wildfire risks continue to pose a threat across California, making preparedness more essential than ever. To help residents stay proactive, here are two key updates:
Review the Updated Fire Hazard Map – Share Your Feedback
CAL FIRE has updated the Fire Hazard Severity Zone (FHSZ) maps, adding 1.4 million acres to high and very high fire hazard zones statewide. Cupertino's Local Response Area (LRA) map reflects these changes, and the City is required to adopt an Ordinance based on the new designations.

Wildfire Readiness Workshops – Learn How to Prepare
Get practical tips on wildfire prevention, emergency planning, and evacuation preparedness. The Santa Clara County Fire Department (SCCFD) is hosting free workshops to help you stay ready.

Annual Community Budget Workshop
The City will hold its annual community budget workshop to engage residents on a specific budget topic on Thursday, April 17, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Community Hall. This year, the focus will be on OpenGov, the city's financial transparency tool. During the workshop, staff will present an overview of OpenGov and demonstrate the various tools it offers to residents. The session will also include an interactive segment where attendees can create their own OpenGov budgets and charts, followed by a Q&A session.
<hack> Cupertino
Hack Cupertino returns to the Quinlan Community Center. This 13-hour overnight hackathon kicks off on Saturday, April 12, at 6:30 p.m. and runs until Sunday, April 13, at 10:30 a.m. Teens (ages 13–18) will work in teams to tackle a unique problem unveiled at the opening ceremony. It’s a great opportunity for teens to test their coding skills, collaborate with peers, and think creatively.

Techie Teens
Teens! Looking to volunteer and make a difference? Become a Techie Teen volunteer this summer and help seniors with their tech devices. Commit just two hours a week and gain valuable volunteer experience while making a positive impact. Applications are due by Monday, April 14, at 4 p.m. The program runs from June 11 to August 8, making it an excellent opportunity to earn volunteer hours over the summer.

City Facilities Closed for Cesar Chavez Day
All City offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, March 31, in observance of Cesar Chavez Day. The Sports Center and Blackberry Farm Golf Course will remain open. Normal operating schedule will resume on Tuesday, April 1.

The Second Annual Teen Resource Fair
On Saturday, March 15, Cupertino Parks and Recreation hosted its second annual Teen Resource Fair at Main Street Cupertino, connecting teens with opportunities, resources, and community support. The event featured summer and year-round volunteer and job opportunities from Cupertino Parks and Recreation, while the Fremont Union High School District’s IDC (Intradistrict Council) Wellness Committee partnered with mental health and wellness organizations to provide key teen resources. A goodie bag and passport system made the fair interactive, encouraging teens to engage with booths and explore available opportunities.

Public Safety Fair
On Saturday, March 22, a local Scout hosted the Public Safety Fair in partnership with the Cupertino Office of Emergency Managment. Residents were invited to meet with various public safety partners, such as the Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, PG&E, Safe Routes to School, and Cupertino Innovation and Technology team. More than 200 people attended this exciting event, which served as the scout’s Eagle Project. The Cupertino Office of Emergency Management served an advisory role and staffed a booth, while OEM volunteers ran a First Aid station. The OEM booth focused on emergency preparedness, the newly released LRA Fire Hazard Maps, and the ALPR program.
Spring Swing Scramble
On Saturday, March 22, golfers came out for the third annual Spring Swing Scramble at Blackberry Farm Golf Course! It was a great day filled with friendly competition and plenty of great shots. Cupertino Parks and Recreation appreciates all the players who came out and made it another successful tournament and hopes everyone enjoyed playing in the Spring Swing Scramble.

April is "Distracted Driving Awareness Month"
Distracted Driving Awareness Month, observed in April, is a campaign led by the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to promote safe driving and reduce accidents caused by distractions. The campaign includes educational materials and enforcement efforts to remind drivers of the dangers of using mobile devices and other distractions while driving. Share your commitment to drive distraction-free on social media. Challenge friends. Become an advocate for change. Together, we can make our roads safer.

Run for Great Schools 5K
The Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation (CEEF) is hosting the Run for Great Schools 5K and Fun Run on Saturday, March 29. CEEF and CUSD are bringing back this fun, district-wide community event and hope to see you there. Sign up today and come Run, Walk or Cheer to support our 23 CUSD Schools.

PG&E Wildfire Safety Webinar
The PG&E Wildfire Safety Webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. It will cover PG&E's wildfire safety efforts, provide resources to support communities, and offer a chance to connect with PG&E leaders, including Senior Vice President Aaron Johnson. Attendees can join online or via phone by calling 1-800-621-7732.
