State of the City 2025
Join us for the 2025 State of the City, featuring a special address by Mayor Liang Chao. The event will occur on Thursday, February 26, at the Quinlan Community Center. The reception will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Mayor's address at 7 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Be Prepared for Extreme Weather
In light of recent wildfires in Southern California and rain in the Bay Area, it's good to be prepared for extreme weather. Extreme Weather includes extreme heat or cold events, wind events, and atmospheric river events, characterized by intense periods of heavy rain. The National Weather Service (NWS) identifies threats based on severity of likely impacts, and the anticipated risk.

Cupertino's augmented reality app was featured in a recent article by San Jose Spotlight. The interactive app offers users an educational and immersive way to explore local nature in the City.

Cupertino Minimum Wage 2025
Starting January 1, 2025, Cupertino's minimum wage went up from $17.75 to $18.20 an hour. This change applies to businesses that pay the Cupertino Business License Tax or have a location in the city. They’re required to pay employees at least $18.20 an hour if they work at least two hours a week in Cupertino. The new rule covers both adult and minor workers, regardless of their immigration status, and doesn’t include tips in the hourly rate.

2025 Streetlight Banner Art Contest
Cupertino Safe Routes to School program has launched its 2025 Streetlight Banner Art Contest. This contest gives high school students living in or attending school in Cupertino a chance to showcase their creativity to the entire Cupertino community. We're inviting students to create banner art that will promote the following key City transportation themes/programs:
- The Joys of Walking and Biking
- Walk and Roll to School Events
- The Environmental Benefits of Sustainable Transportation
- Silicon Valley (SV) Hopper
- Cupertino’s Vision Zero Action Plan
Winning designs will be displayed on streetlights along De Anza Boulevard, Stevens Creek Boulevard, Torre Avenue, and Stelling Road. Designs should be submitted by Friday, February 28. You can read more and submit your entry.
Big Bunny 5K
Hop into fun this spring! The Big Bunny 5K and Kids Fun Run is back on Saturday, March 8. This family-friendly event invites community members to run, walk, or hop 3.1 miles through the streets of Cupertino, starting and finishing at the Cupertino Civic Center. For the littlest participants, kids aged seven and younger will have a blast on a special course built just for them at the Kids Fun Run.

Environmental Recycling Day and Shred It Event
Cupertino’s Environmental Recycling Day and Shred It Event on Saturday, January 18, at De Anza College served 389 residents. Donations included 1,950 lbs. of furniture, clothes, and appliances for Hope Services, and 7,397 lbs. of electronic waste were collected. Hosted by Recology and the City of Cupertino, the event provided free document shredding and recycling. Thanks to Recology staff and drivers for their efforts. The next event is on Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to noon.
Artist Awards
On Monday, January 27, the Cupertino Arts and Culture Commission hosted the second annual Artist Awards Ceremony and Art Exhibition. The Commission received more than 200 remarkable submissions across the Distinguished, Emerging, and Young Artist Award categories.
Congratulations to the 12 Artist Award winners and thank you to the participants for your dedication to the arts! Information about the 2025 Artist Awards program will be available this summer at cupertino.gov/artawards.
Sweetheart Social
On Saturday, February 8, community members came together for the Cupertino Parks and Recreation’s annual Sweetheart Social, celebrating Valentine’s Day and loved ones. Families enjoyed a fun-filled evening of carnival-style games, festive Valentine’s crafts, and picture-perfect memories. Thank you to everyone who attended!

27th Annual Chamber Lunar New Year Celebration
Earlier today, the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce and Asian American Business Council hosted the 27th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration (Year of the Snake). The Lunar New Year celebration was filled with vibrant colors, cultural performances, and heartwarming moments of community togetherness. Guests were treated to mesmerizing music and captivating dragon and lion dances that filled the air with excitement and energy.
Be Natural 3-Year Anniversary Celebration
Be Natural Music, in partnership with the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, is celebrating their 3rd anniversary in Cupertino by hosting an Open House at their Cupertino studio located at 20009 Stevens Creek Boulevard on Saturday, February 22, from 1 to 4 p.m. The free event will feature live performances from six bands from their Real Rock and Jazz Band program.
Crumbl Cookies Grand Opening
Crumbl Cookies celebrated its grand opening in Cupertino on Friday, February 7. Located at 10457 South De Anza Boulevard, Crumbl Cookies is now open and ready to serve the community.
AlphaX Grand Opening
On Wednesday, February 12, AlphaX held a grand opening ceremony of their new office located at 10050 North Foothill Boulevard. Mayor Chao issued AlphaX a Certificate of Recognition as part of their grand opening ceremony.
The Watershed Watch Earth Day Poster Challenge
The Watershed Watch Earth Day Poster Challenge is here again! Calling all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in Santa Clara Valley: What makes your local waterways (creeks, rivers, lakes) special to you? How can we protect them from pollution? Let your creativity shine and share your ideas! Submit your entry by Monday, March 17, for a chance to win up to $250.

Run for Great Schools 5K
Register early for the Run for Great Schools 5K and Run Run on Saturday, March 29. CEEF and CUSD are bringing back this fun, district-wide community event and hope to see you there.
