Cupertino Crime Reaches 10-Year Low
Great news! Thanks to the efforts of city staff, vigilant residents, and our public safety partners, crime in Cupertino has reached a 10-year low. The City remains committed to public safety as we move into 2025 and beyond. Residents are encouraged to continue calling 911 to report any suspicious activity or crimes.

Here are some safety tips to consider:
- Activate your alarms even if you are stepping out for a short period.
- Report any suspicious activity immediately to the non-emergency line at (408) 299-2311.
- Lock your side yard gates and secure all windows and doors to prevent easy unauthorized access to your property, especially overnight.
- Keep all valuables secure, such as safes, jewelry, designer handbags and cash out of the master bedroom.
- Consider forming or joining a Neighborhood Watch Group to foster a sense of community vigilance.

City Unveils New Website to Kick Off the New Year
The City of Cupertino has launched a new website with a fresh look and feel. The new website features a modern interface that makes browsing, searching, and gathering information more straightforward and engaging for visitors.
The new cupertino.gov website makes it easy to apply for a permit, find local events to attend, and stay up to date on City news.
Residents are invited to share their feedback on the new website through the website feedback form.
City Recognized with "Staff Report of the Month" by PublicCEO
PublicCEO, and news outlet for local government leaders in California, recently recognized a Cupertino City Council information memorandum regarding the preparation for the City Work Program Prioritization and Goal Setting Workshop is the Staff Report of the Month.

CRV Recycling Program with Recycletek
The City of Cupertino has seen success with its partnership with Recycletek, which operates an AI-assisted California Redemption Value (CRV) recycling EcoTrailer designed to make receiving recyclable container refunds easier. Since Recycletek began operations in Cupertino in August 2023, 2000 customers have redeemed over 801,000 containers.
The location and hours are listed below:
- Wednesdays - Creekside Park, 10455 Miller Avenue, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
- Saturdays - 10259 Mary Avenue, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
2025 Streetlight Banner Art Contest
Cupertino Safe Routes to School program has launched its 2025 Streetlight Banner Art Contest. This contest gives high school students living in or attending school in Cupertino a chance to showcase their creativity to the entire Cupertino community. We're inviting students to create banner art that will promote the following key City transportation themes/programs:
- The Joys of Walking and Biking
- Walk and Roll to School Events
- The Environmental Benefits of Sustainable Transportation
- Silicon Valley (SV) Hopper
- Cupertino’s Vision Zero Action Plan
Winning designs will be displayed on streetlights along DeAnza Boulevard, Stevens Creek Boulevard, Torre Avenue, and Stelling Road. Designs should be submitted by Friday, February 28. You can read more and submit your entry.

Block Party Grant Brings Neighbors Together
Jayshri is a new Block Leader who gathered her community for a Neighborhood Watch presentation before joining the Block Leader program, after safety concerns in her neighborhood. Jayshri shares, "This gathering has also encouraged us to watch out for each other and work with the Sheriff to get timely support and help when we see suspicious activities." Block Leaders are engaged Cupertino residents who go the extra mile to connect neighbors and build community – helping our neighborhoods become safer and more resilient. Coat Collection Drive a Resounding Success
From November 29 to January 2, the City’s Environmental Programs and Sustainability staff and Recology collaborated with the Cupertino Library to collect new, gently used coats and jackets. Over 5 barrels of outerwear were collected and donated to Sacred Heart Community Services to provide warmth to those in need.

Valley Water provides flood management services for Santa Clara County. During severe storm events and high flows in the flood-prone creeks, Valley Water implements emergency actions to protect life, property, and the environment.

The Watershed Watch Earth Day Poster Challenge
The Watershed Watch Earth Day Poster Challenge is here again! Calling all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade in Santa Clara Valley: What makes your local waterways (creeks, rivers, lakes) special to you? How can we protect them from pollution? Let your creativity shine and share your ideas! Submit your entry by Monday, March 17, for a chance to win up to $250.

Cupertino Symphonic Band's Children's Concert
On Sunday, March 23, the Cupertino Symphonic Band will host a Children's Concert at the Quinlan Community Center, offering a delightful selection of music for younger audiences. Admission is free.

Starbird Chicken Grand Opening
Starbird Chicken, in partnership with the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, celebrated its grand opening in Cupertino on Friday, December 20. Located at 20080 Stevens Creek Boulevard (Suite 100), Starbird Chicken is now open and ready to serve the community.
