Holiday Waste Sorting Guide

While presents come with lots of cheer, they can also come with excessive packaging and wrapping. Stay sustainable by sorting right and using these holiday wrapping tips!

Join the Sustainability Commission

Applications for two seats on the Sustainability Commission are now open due to expiring terms in January 2025. This Commission consists of five members appointed by the City Council to serve four-year, overlapping terms. Cupertino residents are encouraged to apply.

Holiday Tree Disposal🎄 Tree pick up is available curbside from December 26 through January 31, 2025. Before setting your tree on your curb follow these steps: 1. Remove lights*, decorations, and tinsel 2. Cut trees to five feet or less 3. Place smaller pieces in the green compost cart 4. Place your carts and residual tree pieces roadside on your collection day 5. Please make sure your cart lid is closed!

*Holiday lights are household hazardous electronic waste!

Holiday Coat Collection Drive

The City of Cupertino, in partnership with Recology, is hosting its annual Coat Collection Drive. Now through Thursday, January 2, please drop off new or gently used coats at the Cupertino Library Lobby (10800 Torre Avenue). All donations will be given to Sacred Heart Community Services, which will distribute them to those in need this holiday season.

Student Scholarship Opportunity!

SVCE is funding up to $10,000 for students who are advancing innovative climate change solutions.

This program sponsors student-led project ideas that support the community’s goal to reduce the use of fossil fuels in favor of clean, renewable energy. Applications close January 31, 2025.

TECH Clean California is offering rebates to help property owners and renters:

• Improve energy efficiency
• Reduce greenhouse gas emissions

FREE EV Chargers at Multifamily Housing

The program will install Level 1 or 2 chargers at multifamily housing, not-for-profit organizations and small businesses at no cost for sites in a priority community. Additional fees and an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) plan are covered.
