Public Safety Forum 2024

This event is an opportunity to connect with local and regional public safety officials and discover what you need to know about Cupertino public safety, disaster preparedness, volunteer opportunities, and more.

Updates from The Rise
The Rise project is moving forward. The City has issued a grading permit for The Rise project (formally known as Vallco Town Center). The work scope involves rough grading the property's southwestern half of Wolfe Road to prepare the site for future work currently undergoing plan review with the City.

Citizen Corps Exercise
On Saturday, October 19, the City of Cupertino and the Citizen Corps will host an emergency exercise at Creekside Park, simulating an earthquake affecting Cupertino. Volunteers and public safety officials will be active in the area. The City acknowledges and thanks the resident volunteers for their dedication to public safety and the community. The exercise will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude by noon. This event is an exercise.
Stevens Creek Boulevard Survey
The cities of Cupertino, Santa Clara, and San Jose, along with Santa Clara County and the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), are nearing the completion of a partnership transportation study for the Stevens Creek Boulevard/West San Carlos corridor. This study aims to develop a comprehensive vision for the corridor that prioritizes complete streets, multimodal transportation improvements, and potential high-capacity transit options, connecting Diridon Station to De Anza College.

City Completes Annual FEMA CRS Recertification
The Public Works Department recently completed the 2024 FEMA’s Community Rating System (CRS) recertification. The City of Cupertino voluntarily participates in the program, demonstrating how it exceeds the minimum floodplain management requirements of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) each year. The recertification ensures that Cupertino residents will continue to receive reductions on their premiums for flood insurance.

Street Light Pole Replacement Project
The City's maintenance team has given the streets a facelift by replacing old, worn-out fluted street light poles, some of which were up to sixty years old, with new galvanized Type 15 poles. Over a period of sixteen years, more than 517 poles were replaced. The project concluded with the final replacement on Steeplechase Lane, highlighting the team's commitment to enhancing the city's appearance and efficiency.
Youth Activity Board
The Youth Activity Board (YAB) is kicking off the 2024-25 school year with exciting plans for upcoming teen events! From September's Teen Speaker Series to October's Pizza and Politics and April's Hack Cupertino, this dedicated group is hard at work creating meaningful experiences for Cupertino's youth.
