India Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony
Join the City of Cupertino and Cupertino-Bhubaneswar Sister City Initiative as we celebrate the 77th India Independence Day Flag Raising Ceremony. The event will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, at the Civic Center Plaza.
2024 CREST Award Nominations are Open
The inaugural Cupertino Community Service Awards will take place on Saturday, November 16. This ceremony will recognize the winners of the 2024 CREST (Cupertino Recognizes Extra Steps Taken) Awards and Commissioners who served on a Cupertino Commission.
The City of Cupertino is now accepting nominations for the CREST Awards, to honor the outstanding contributions of volunteers in Cupertino. The CREST Award categories are Volunteer of the Year, Organization of the Year, Rising Star, and Lifetime Achievement. If you know someone who deserves recognition for going above and beyond for their community, submit a nomination by Friday, August 30.

SV Hopper in the News
Last week, Silicon Valley (SV) Hopper, the popular rideshare service that was first launched in Cupertino, made headlines! Quickly becoming a local favorite, it's paving the way for the future of local travel. Free rides to select locations are offered until Saturday, August 31.

Regnart Road Improvements Phase 1 Complete
The Regnart Road Improvements Phase 1 Project was recently completed. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of staff, the contractor, and engineers, this project was completed on time and within budget, with focused efforts towards minimizing impacts to the public.

Senior Center Accepting Hidden Treasure Donations
The Cupertino Senior Center is now accepting donations through Friday, October 11. Donate your gently used or new jewelry, artwork, knickknacks, kitchenware, home décor, and more! Donations can be made at the Cupertino Senior Center Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year's Hidden Treasures event will be held on Thursday, October 24.

National Night Out
Thank you to everyone who hosted or attended a National Night Out event! Our community shone brightly as over 20 neighborhoods fizzed with the energy of block parties, ice cream socials, and other events to bring the community together. Santa Clara County Fire, Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, and Cupertino Office of Emergency Management attended events, providing attendees with valuable insights and answering queries, thereby enhancing our collective safety and preparedness.
Many thanks to Target and KeyPoint Credit Union for supporting these gatherings and to the Pasadena Avenue Starbucks for hosting the National Night Out event.

Community Bell Ringing for Peace
On Tuesday, August 6, the Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities Association organized the Bell Ringing for Peace ceremony at Memorial Park. Representatives from the Japanese Consulate and Cupertino-Toyokawa Sister Cities Association came together to commemorate the lives lost in the bombing of Toyokawa, Japan. Attendees gathered around a senbazuru (Tower of 1,000 Cranes) and actively rang bells to symbolize harmony and a commitment to peace.

YogaSix celebrated its grand opening in Cupertino on Saturday, July 27. Located in Cupertino Village at 10805 North Wolfe Road, Suite 104, YogaSix is now open and ready to serve the community.
