Chai and Chat with Mayor Mohan
Join Mayor Mohan for a cup of chai (or coffee) and casual conversation about the issues that matter most to you. Cupertino residents, business owners, and community members are invited to Chai and Chat every month, offering a unique opportunity to speak directly with the Mayor. Chai and Chats will take place every second Monday of the month. The next meeting will be Monday, April 8, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the Starbucks inside Target at 20745 Stevens Creek Blvd.

Engage with the City's Budget
During April, City staff will host “Budget TEAm Time,” a series of budget outreach events to discuss budget related topics with the community through Engagement Booths, Focus Groups, and a Community Budget Meeting. These events are your opportunity to get engaged with the City’s budget. Your input is invaluable in guiding these decisions, and we encourage you to join us and share your thoughts on what matters most to you and your community.

Big Bunny 5K and Kids Fun Run Returns
The Big Bunny 5K and Kids Fun Run returns to Cupertino tomorrow. Run, walk, or hop 3.1 miles through the streets of Cupertino – starting and finishing at the Cupertino Civic Center. For younger participants (kids seven and younger) will have a blast on a special course set up just for them at the Kids Fun Run.

A Sustainable Easter

Community Outreach for OEM and Block Leaders
On Wednesday, April 3, Cupertino Office of Emergency Management staff will meet with volunteers from the Cupertino Block Leader volunteer program from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Starbucks on Stevens Creek Boulevard. The meeting is part of an ongoing series of “coffee hours” engaging existing volunteers and interested community members to enhance and expand the City’s community-building volunteer program. Recent events focused on volunteers overcoming barriers to engagement within their neighborhood and approaches to building emergency preparedness kits. The event offers resources to current Block Leaders interested in bringing emergency preparedness kit-building workshops into their community. This is a no host event - coffee, tea, and food will not be provided.

<hack> Cupertino
<hack> Cupertino is almost here. This overnight hackathon is held at the Quinlan Community Center from Saturday, April 13 to Sunday, April 14. This 13-hour overnight hackathon for 13 to 18 year-olds prompts teams to solve a secret problem unveiled at the opening ceremony. Teams will have the night to create a solution to the problem. This event is an excellent opportunity for teens to destress, socialize, and flex their coding skills.

2024 Earth and Arbor Day Festival
You are invited to celebrate at the City of Cupertino’s 16th annual Earth and Arbor Day Festival on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cupertino Library Field. During this event, we harness and build upon an exciting year for climate and environmental advocacy, policy, and action here in Silicon Valley and across the world. Businesses and organizations can showcase their contributions to the health and sustainability of our community as tabling partners or event sponsors. Groups and individuals can perform on solar powered stage. Finally, volunteers can cultivate awareness of environmental problems and solutions, inspire others to take action, and support a sustainable, healthy, and resilient community.

City Offices Closed for Cesar Chavez Day
In observance of Cesar Chavez Day, City offices will be closed on Monday, April 1. City offices will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, April 2.

Teen Resource Fair
On Saturday, March 16, the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department held its first Teen Resource Fair. The Fair was held in the Main Street Cupertino Plaza and showcased the exciting summer and year-round volunteering and job opportunities for teens. Staff partnered with Fremont Union High School District IntraDistrict Council’s Wellness committee who provided multiple mental health and wellness booth partners, relaxing activities such as yoga and bracelet making, and a goodie bag for guests at the event. Thank you to all that attended and participated, and we hope to see you again next year.
GenConnect: An Intergenerational Mixer
On Monday, March 18, the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department hosted GenConnect, an intergenerational mixer. More than 40 local high school students and seniors gathered at the Cupertino Senior Center to participate in this community-connecting experience. The event began with a fun, interactive icebreaker, which allowed everyone to share experiences and get to know each other. Attendees then enjoyed an origami workshop led by members of the Origami Club at Homestead High School. Following lunch, the City’s environmental and sustainability team shared proper waste disposal practices and the City’s Climate Action Plan. To conclude, one of the Senior Center’s class volunteers led a yoga and Bollywood dance demonstration. The day was filled with great conversations, lots of laughs, and a variety of engaging activities.

Homestead Safe Routes to School Meeting
Join VTA on Wednesday, April 3, at the Quinlan Community Center for a presentation on the Homestead Safe Routes to School Improvement Project. The Project will upgrade pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure along Homestead Road (Foothill Expressway to Hollenbeck Avenue/Stelling Road) in Los Altos, Cupertino, Sunnyvale, and Unincorporated Santa Clara County. Staff will discuss numerous bicycle and pedestrian safety improvements that would allow more families to walk or bike to school.

2024 Cupertino Holi Festival of Colors
Cupertino Chamber of Commerce presents Holi "Cupertino Festival of Colors." This free festival celebrates the arrival of spring and for many a festive day to meet others, enjoy delicacies, play, and laugh. Join the celebration of life and enjoy food, music, and colors with friends and family.
The event will be held at Memorial Park on Sunday, April 7 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit here.
Family Safety Expo
On Sunday, April 21, the Family Safety Expo event will be held at the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation located at 2355 Oakland Road, San Jose, CA, 95131. This expo is a valuable opportunity to elevate mental health awareness, strengthen disaster preparedness, and develop first aid skills that can genuinely make a difference.

Summer Internship for High Schoolers
Bay Area high school students are invited to apply to the Norman Mineta Bay Area Summer Academy, a five-week paid internship with ABAG, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Bay Conservation and Development Commission (BCDC) and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (Air District).
