Second Modification to Rise Development Approved
The City has approved the second modification to the Rise Development pursuant to streamlined, ministerial processes allowed under state law for projects that include a specified percentage of affordable housing units. Formerly the Vallco Town Center Development, the Rise is a mixed-use housing development with 2,669 units, of which 890 units are affordable to lower income households. The modified project also includes 47 townhomes. The project also includes approximately 1.95 million square foot of office space, 226,000 square foot of retail space and at-grade open space areas. Silicon Valley Hopper Crosses 100,000 Trips
In January, the Silicon Valley (SV) Hopper program achieved a significant milestone, recording its highest monthly ridership since service started in October 2019. This record-setting month of 7,225 completed trips marks a remarkable growth trajectory for the service. On February 13, the service surpassed 100,000 total completed trips. This increased ridership in January is primarily attributed to its consistent popularity among City of Cupertino users, strong ridership to Caltrain stations, and the expansion of service to the City of Santa Clara, which began in November 2023.

Lawrence-Mitty Park and Trail Project Update
The design team has spent the last few months working on the draft California Environmental Quality Report Act (CEQA) report and the final Conceptual Plan for the Lawrence-Mitty Park and Trail CIP project. In January 2023, the City Council confirmed the design direction for the project, following input from Commissions and the community. The next step was to develop and process the environmental report. As required by CEQA, the draft Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) is available for review and comment until Wednesday, March 13. The draft document can be viewed here. Once the report and final conceptual design are adopted, the project team will further develop design and engineering drawings. These documents will be used to obtain permits, solicit bids for construction in a public process, and eventually construct the park.

Liang’s Village is a third-generation family-owned and operated business specializing in Taiwanese Juancun (Mandarin for “military village”) comfort food, while the equivalent of three Michelin stars from the International Taste Institute was awarded to Chicha San Chen in 2021 prior to opening its first Bay Area location in Cupertino in September 2023.
