On Saturday November 11 at 11 am, Cupertino will honor veterans at a ceremony held at Memorial Park, located at Mary Avenue and Stevens Creek Boulevard, in Cupertino, in front of The Guardians Statue. The Guardians is an image of two defenders, ever watchful, back to back. The two soldiers represented are Cupertino's own Matthew Axelson, and James Suh, two Navy SEAL's who died fighting the Taliban in Afghanistan during Operation Red Wings.
This year, the Cupertino Veterans Day Ceremony will honor all veterans, active-duty military and first responders. For more information about the Cupertino Veterans Memorial, refer to cupertinoveteransmemorial.org

Hidden Treasures
The Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department hosted its annual Hidden Treasures event on Thursday, October 26, which supports the City's Stay Active Fund. This fund is pivotal in ensuring the City's senior residents can stay active, engaged, and connected with their community. We are thrilled to share that this year's Hidden Treasures event raised a remarkable $12,500. Thank you to our attendees who purchased a 'treasure.'
Behind the scenes, it's our dedicated Parks and Recreation staff, coupled with the assistance of our incredible volunteers, who made Hidden Treasures happen.
Frights, Delights, and Spooky Fun
On Saturday, October 28, the Cupertino Parks and Recreation Department hosted its annual Halloween extravaganza, Monster Mash. More than 200 enthusiastic children and their families enjoyed a spooktacular evening filled with games, trick-or-treating, crafts, and a costume parade – showcasing their hauntingly fabulous attire. Staff can't wait to welcome everyone back next October for another ghoulishly good time.
Block Leader and Neighbor-2-Neighbor Kickoff
Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Neighbor-to-Neighbor (N2N) kickoff event last Saturday, November 4. This event was hosted in partnership with California Volunteers. Together we discussed how every resident can work towards a more prepared and resilient Cupertino, and what it means to build a sense of community with our neighbors. As part of the Block Leader program, the N2N pilot aims to help residents stay connected to the City, and to each other.
If you missed the event and want to learn more about the pilot or the Block Leader program, visit cupertino.gov/BlockLeader or contact Marta Drown at MartaD@cupertino.gov.
