Environmental Recycling Event Recap
The Environmental Recycling Day and Shred It Event was held on Saturday, April 22 at De Anza College Parking Lot A, serving 422 City residents for drop off of unwanted materials and secure shredding of documents. Residents dropped off 4,280 pounds of donatable materials (furniture, clothes, and small appliances) which were donated to Hope Services. More than 1,000 pounds of yard trimmings were collected in addition to construction debris and electronic waste.
The City of Cupertino, in partnership with Recology, holds this event to offer City residents an opportunity to shred confidential documents, drop off other unwanted materials for responsible reuse, and recycling for no charge. The City thanks Recology's operations and customer service staff for facilitating and the team of drivers.
The next Environmental Recycling Day event is scheduled for September 9 from 8 a.m. to noon.
Live Well Age Well Health Expo
Join the Cupertino Senior Center for the Live Well Age Well Health Expo on Friday, May 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn about resources for community members 50 and older. The event will include informational booths, educational sessions, information on community and health resources, and fitness demonstrations.
The first 100 participants will receive a free health box lunch with additional giveaways. Box lunches will be sold for $5 while supplies last. The expo is open to the public.
Community Creek Cleanup at Regnart Creek
Be the solution to water pollution and sign up for National River Cleanup Day, an international day of action to protect our creeks, rivers, and wildlife from trash and debris. The City of Cupertino is hosting a community creek cleanup on Saturday, May 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at Regnart Creek.
Gloves, trash grabbers, and other tools will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring water to stay hydrated and to dress for safety by wearing closed toe shoes, long sleeves, long pants, and sunscreen.

Cupertino Café Returns Next Week
On Saturday, May 20 from 2 to 8 p.m., the City invites all teens to the semi-annual Cupertino Café at Community Hall. The Cupertino Café is the perfect location for students to study and prepare for final exams. There will be free snacks, beverages, and Panda Express. Attendees can rest with one of the many games and relaxing activities on site.
