REACH Campaign
In the last 5 months you have been receiving emails about inclement weather as well as a request to share life-safety information. REACH (Raising Emergency Awareness of Community Hazards) is an initiative to increase community resilience and preparedness using existing social networks, and to give volunteers an opportunity to make sure that you are able to get in touch with your neighbors. And remember a connected community is a safe and resilient community!
While we may have some "practice" messages (such as the March 1 message about evacuation routes), REACH messages usually go out when an incident such as a storm represents a moderate, major, or extreme risk. You are not required to respond to every REACH message - you may be busy, or sick, or out of town - but please respond at least once a quarter. I want to be clear - this is a tool used to evaluate the programs themselves, not you as volunteers.
I ask that you respond through the Microsoft form each time a REACH message goes out for a few reasons.
- To measure message spread/efficacy
- To measure participation across the Office of Emergency Management volunteer programs
- To let us know that your email is up to date
- So that any data I report can be easily replicated

Doorhangers
The first batch of "Hello Neighbor!" doorhangers have arrived! Supplies are limited, so these will only be available for Block Leaders.
These doorhangers have a basic description of the Block Leader program as well as space for your contact information. Leave these with neighbors that you want to invite into your Block or may have lost touch with.
Use this form to reserve doorhangers (up to 15 per Block Leader). I will close the form when all the doorhangers have been reserved.
The doorhangers will be available for pickup at the May meeting. If you want your doorhangers earlier, email me to arrange a pickup at City Hall.
May Meeting
The next Block Leader meeting will be May 30th at Community Hall. Our guest speaker will be Victoria Morin from the City's Sustainability and Environmental Programs - please let me know if there is something specific you would like Victoria to discuss.
We will also have a limited number of the retired Block Leader shirts available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Due to the limited number, I cannot guarantee that everyone who attends will receive a shirt.
As a reminder, all are welcome to join but Block Leaders are required to attend at least one meeting per year.
Register at this link, I hope to see you there!
