Compost Site 2022
The City of Cupertino’s compost site at Stevens Creek Quarry closed for the season on Saturday, October 29. During the 2022 season, 1,132 vehicles collected 360 yards of compost for landscapes and gardens, and staff applied 480 yards of compost in Cupertino parks. The compost, which is tested and assured by the US Composting Council, is made from yard and food waste from residential homes that is processed by South Valley Organics, a Recology owned composting facility. Through the Solid Waste Franchise Agreement, the City is provided with bulk finished compost for this program at no additional fee, and the City offers it back to the community at no charge. We are glad to be able to provide this popular “full circle” offering to residents each year.
