Get Involved with the Fox Hills and Hayden Tract Specific Plans

Culver City is kicking off two new neighborhood plans for the Fox Hills and Hayden Tract areas! These plans will guide redevelopment in the Fox Hills and Hayden Tract communities, creating more walkable, mixed-use neighborhoods with improved transit access. They will look not only at regulations for developing private property, but also needed improvements for parks, streets, sidewalks, transit, and other important amenities for the community.

Join the City for the first open house to learn more about the projects, speak with the project teams, ask questions, and share your experiences and priorities for housing, mobility, and amenities in the Fox Hills and Hayden Tract neighborhoods. If you can’t attend in person, the materials will be posted online and you can ask questions and leave comments on the projects’ virtual open house platforms.

Community Budget Information Session

We invite you to join us at the Community Budget Information Sessions on Wednesday, March 19th to learn more about the City budget. The annual process of creating the city budget ensures that public resources are put to the best use to meet the collective needs of our community.

Complete Streets Design Standards Community Open House

This month, the City published the Final Draft of the Complete Streets Design Standards. You are invited to a Community Open House at El Marino Park to learn about the Standards and how they will shape the future of roadway design in Culver City to create safe, sustainable, and equitable streets for all users.

Save the Date: 2nd Annual Mental Health Wellness Resource Fair in Culver City

Thanks to your enthusiasm for the 2024 event, the City of Culver City is welcoming the 2nd Annual Mental Health Resource Fair in April. The Mobile Crisis Team, which provides non-emergency mental health care and support to members of the Culver City community, will host dozens of local and regional health providers. These booths will offer resources and insights to enhance our community's mental health and well-being. Activities will include sound baths, mindfulness, meditation, and art.

Culver CityBus to Launch Automated Bus Lane & Bus Stop Enforcement Warning Period

Culver CityBus is launching automated bus lane and bus stop enforcement, known as the ABLE Program, systemwide to reduce parking violations obstructing public transit and improve safety, accessibility, and public transit reliability for riders. This program utilizes camera systems installed on Culver City transit buses to detect and enforce instances of vehicles illegally parked in bus stops and bike lanes, which impacts safety and accessible transit service.

Starting Thursday, March 20th, drivers illegally parked along the MOVE corridor mobility lanes and at bus stops throughout Culver City will receive warning notices in the mail. Citations will be issued starting May 19th, at which time, violations captured through ABLE technology will be subject to a $293 fine. These are existing violations and fines that are currently only administered when an enforcement officer witnesses the violation. The use of ABLE technology will provide a more robust opportunity to deter these violations. You can learn more about the ABLE Program on the City's website.

City Council Asks for $16 Million Funding for Jubilo Village Affordable Housing Project in Upcoming Budget

The City Council directed the City Manager to include funding of $16 million for the Jubilo Village affordable housing project in the upcoming Fiscal Year 25-26 budget. Jubilo Village’s developer, Community Corporation of Santa Monica, has asked the City for a $16 million residual receipts loan to fill the current gap in funding for the project. This is in addition to the $4 million the City previously set-aside for the project and approximately $16 million in housing vouchers the City is planning to designate towards the project. The funding cannot be committed until appropriated in the final budget, on which the City Council will decide on June 9, 2025.

Jubilo Village is a proposed 100% affordable housing development at 4464 Sepulveda Boulevard that is designed to provide 93 affordable one, two and three-bedroom apartments to at-risk and low-income households. If appropriated in the budget, the $16 million would be split across two fiscal years; $4 million in FY 25-26 and $12 million in FY 26-27.

Culver City Symphony Orchestra 60th Anniversary Celebration

The City Council awarded a Commendation to the Culver City Symphony Orchestra celebrating its 60^th anniversary season.

Culver City Car Show Returns to Downtown Culver City in May

The 21st Annual Culver City Car Show, hosted by the Culver City Exchange Club and sponsored by the City of Culver City, is coming to the streets of Downtown Culver City on Saturday, May 10, 2025. The free event will feature live entertainment. More than 500 cars are expected to be on display.

Convenient parking is available in the Watseka, Cardiff and Ince Parking Structures located in Downtown Culver City. Please do not park in residential areas. Plan ahead and consider taking the bus or using other mobility options to attend the event, including the City’s Circulator that connects to the Culver City Expo Station! Screenland 5K Draws Nearly 3,000 on Oscar Sunday in Culver City

Another year in the history books! Thank you to the nearly 3,000 people who took part in the Glitz, Glamour, Glory and Gold of the 2025 Screenland 5K. We had a blast celebrating the Heart of Screenland with music, entertainment, and of course, a beautiful stroll through Culver City. 

Congratulations to Culver City Police Department Team CSO Velasco, Detective Cardona, and IT Professional Gardner for putting their best foot forward at the Screenland 5k! Out of thousands of runners Gardner took 114th Place, Cardona snagged 7th Place, and Velasco took 1st Place overall.

Culver City Municipal Plunge Offers Lifeguard Certification Course

The Culver City Municipal Plunge is excited on offering a new Lifeguard Certification Course.

Registration is now open. Participants must be 16 years old. Certification will be on:

• Saturday, March 29 & Sunday, March 30, 2025 
• Friday, April 4 & Sunday, April  6, 2025

Register for the Spring Egg-stravaganza

Get your egg hunt baskets ready! Egg-stravaganza will take place at Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 9 AM to 12 PM.

This free family event will include carnival/picnic games, in-person egg hunts, food trucks, a photo-op with Mr. Bunny, and more! Please bring you own Egg Baskets!

Egg Hunts will be organized by age group. Please register your child(ren) for the appropriate hunt time. Registration is required for the egg hunt and can be done online or in person at the registration office which is located at 4117 Overland Avenue, Culver City, CA. The registration office is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 7 PM and on Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM. If you have questions, please call (310) 253-6650.

Teen Mental Health Expo Registration Now Open 

Now Accepting Fiesta La Ballona Entertainer Applications

The Culver City Parks, Recreation & Community Services (PRCS) Department is excited for this year’s Fiesta La Ballona taking place the weekend of August 22 through the 24th.

The application for potential live performers is now open! The deadline to submit your application is Friday, April 18th, at 5 PM.  Please be sure to allow yourself time to complete the application fully.

The applications will be reviewed by a panel and the artists selected will be notified on or before Friday, June 6th.

Applicants, please do not follow-up on the status of your application until after that date and be aware that submission of an application does not guarantee selection or a right to perform.

Fiesta La Ballona 2025 will be hosted at Veterans Memorial Park at 4117 Overland Avenue, Culver City, 90230. Community members look forward to the popular carnival rides and games, live music and dance performances, a diverse variety of food vendors, a beer & wine garden, craft and retail shopping areas—plus local community and non-profit booths.

Free Tire Recycling Event

The Environmental Programs and Operations division of Public Works encourages residents to join the Los Angeles County Free Tire Recycling Event on Saturday, March 22nd from 9 AM to 3 PM at the Los Angeles County Road Maintenance Yard.

Tires from businesses and tractor-sized tires will not be accepted. 

2025 Community Emergency Response Team In-Person Skills Training

The Culver City Fire Department (CCFD) is excited to announce a free two-day Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) skills training. This hands-on program is designed to equip residents with the necessary skills to support local responders and assist in disaster relief efforts during large-scale emergencies or planned events. 

We encourage you to sign up, as CERT members play a vital role in enhancing the disaster preparedness of Culver City by providing volunteer assistance when needed, strengthening the City’s overall disaster response capabilities.

In order to register for the Spring or Fall session, you must be at least 16 years of age and either live or work in Culver City. You must also have completed the free 12-hour online training course. Learn more about the trainings on the CCFD website.

Important Reminders as Residents Report Coyote Sightings 

Recently, residents have reported seeing coyotes in our community. Coyotes are present in Culver City and throughout Southern California. Although they generally avoid human contact, coyotes are wild animals. Coyotes have killed unattended small pets in Culver City. The City monitors residents’ reports of coyote behavior in consultation with wildlife experts, and the City will take appropriate action to protect human safety. It is especially important that the City be notified of any aggressive coyote behavior towards humans.

What to Know About LA County Wildfire Tenant Eviction Protections

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed the Resolution of the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors Protecting Qualifying Income Eligible Tenants Directly Financially Impacted by the January 2025 Windstorm and Critical Wildfire Events, effective February 1, 2025. This Resolution protects L.A. County (and its incorporated cities, including Culver City) tenants, including those who rent a mobile home from a mobile homeowner, from eviction for non-payment of rent due during the protected time period of February 1, 2025, through July 31, 2025. 

This Resolution provides an affirmative defense against, but does not prevent, unlawful detainer actions for tenants who have been directly financially impacted by the January 2025 Windstorm and Critical Wildfire Events - such as the Palisades and Eaton fires, etc. Landlords may not impose late fees, interest or other charges on rental debt during the protected time period. Free Childcare Offered at Culver City
City Council Meetings

Childcare is now available for people attending City Council meetings. This is to encourage in-person public participation. The service will continue through July 14, 2025. The City also offers virtual options for the community to participate in City Council meetings. The next meeting is Monday, April 14th.

Children from 5 to 15-years-old are eligible. You must register your child for each meeting you wish to attend at least 24 hours prior to the meeting. Two trained Parks, Recreations and Community Services staff members will be on hand to conduct the childcare in the City Hall Patacchia Room, located on the first floor next to Council Chambers.
