Key Reminders
Stay informed. Monitor local news for official warnings and evacuation orders. Check social media and alerts.
Avoid non-essential travel during the storm. If you must travel, use caution, and never drive, walk or swim through a flooded road or area.
If the power goes out, turn off all appliances and keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to prevent food spoilage. Southern California Edison customers can report power outages online or call (800) 611-1911.
Avoid downed and hanging power lines. Electrical currents can travel through water. For downed power lines, always call 9-1-1.
Report any blocked or clogged street catch basins, downed trees or signal outages to the City of Culver City Public Works Department at (310) 253-5635.
Leave 9-1-1 open for emergency calls.
City Efforts
Coordination efforts among all City departments and other local response agencies continue as we respond to this dynamic and evolving incident. While there are several staff members involved now, and leading up to the activation, a couple department responses worthy of note include Public Works and Housing and Human Services.
Culver City’s Department of Public Works conducted a significant amount of mitigative work leading up to the storm and continue to monitor and patrol the City. Should residents encounter a clogged storm drain or downed tree, please report these hazards to the Public Works Department (310) 253-5635.
The City’s Housing and Human Services Department has also conducted preparation activities leading up to this storm event, including working with various City departments to secure the City’s Safe Sleep Site and provide temporary housing to community members living along the Ballona Creek. Should members of the public need shelter resources, they may call 2-1-1.
