1. COVID-19 Vaccine Update
Beginning Monday, March 1, Los Angeles County will offer vaccines to education and childcare workers, workers in the food and agriculture sector, and emergency service workers. All eligible workers will be able to sign up for appointments starting next week at various community vaccine sites including pharmacies, health clinics, and City of LA vaccination sites listed on the Vaccinate LA County website.
Learn more about the different vaccination tiers and find out when it’s your turn to receive your free COVID-19 vaccination, by visiting the Vaccinate LA County website.
Registration is required for a vaccine appointment. Eligible LA County residents with internet access and a computer are urged to use the Vaccinate LA County website to reserve an appointment. For those without access to the internet, or with disabilities, a call center is open daily from 8 AM to 8:30 PM to help schedule appointments; dial (833) 540-0473 if you are in need of assistance. Please note that this phone line is reserved for people with disabilities or for those who don’t have internet access.
Per the State’s COVID-19 Vaccine Allocation Guidelines, beginning March 15, healthcare providers may use their clinical judgement to vaccinate individuals age 16 – 64 who are deemed to be at the very highest risk. View a list of high-risk conditions on the State’s Vaccine Plan webpage or register on the MyTurn website to be notified when you’re eligible to receive your vaccination.

Yesterday, Barbara Ferrer, PhD, MPH, MEd, Director of Public Health shared comments on the County’s devastating milestone.
As we mark this heartbreaking day and note with sadness the loss of over 20,000 County residents, we mourn with all of you who have lost someone you love to COVID-19. We are deeply sorry for your loss, and wish you healing and peace. As more and more of our County residents return to businesses and school, it’s important to remember that the actions we all take today will affect the numbers of cases, hospitalizations and deaths several weeks from now. As we continue to bear witness to the devastating loss of life from COVID-19, we ask that everyone continue to use the tools we know work to slow the spread of the virus: wear a mask and keep 6 feet of distance anytime you are around others not in your household. This virus is still easily transmitted among people in contact with each other and we must do all we can to continue the momentum of the decreases we are seeing cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
COVID-19 is still among us, and while cases are trending downwards, we must stay diligent. Wear a face covering, wash your hands, and keep practicing physical distancing. Avoid large and indoor gatherings.
