Due to the rapid increase in COVID-19 cases across the state and country, Governor Gavin Newsom and the California Department of Public Health issued a Limited Stay at Home Order prohibiting non-essential business and personal gatherings between 10 PM and 5 AM. The order will go into effect at 10 PM on Saturday, November 21, 2020 and remain in effect until 5 AM on December 21, 2020. Previously announced Los Angeles County restrictions will also be in place. When orders from the state, county and City are not identical, the strictest order must be followed.
LA County is solidly in the purple tier of the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy. Today, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health confirmed 29 new deaths and 5,031 new cases of COVID-19. This is the highest number of daily new cases LA County has experienced throughout the pandemic. Over the last two days, there have been a total of 8,975 new cases reported; a 2-day average of nearly 4,500 daily new cases.
LA County is experiencing a dangerous acceleration of cases that is increasing at a higher rate than the July surge. From June 20 through July 3, the 7-day average increase in new cases was 47%. From October 28 through November 10, the 7-day average increase in new cases is surging at 68%.
Please protect yourself and those around you. Wear a face covering, wash your hands regularly, keep at least six feet of physical distance from others when in public, and limit mixing with people you do not live with.
