New Culver City Public Order Allows Staggered Re-openings of More Business Types; Playgrounds to Re-open on Oct. 3; Other Changes for Businesses; Regular Parking Enforcement Resumes Oct. 15
Today the City of Culver City issued a new Public Order, in alignment with recent Los Angeles County Public Health announcements, allowing some business sectors to re-open during the next week. In addition, Culver City outdoor playgrounds will reopen beginning Saturday, October 3. The order also requires businesses to post the City's community workforce resources poster, waives valet and outdoor dining permit fees through the end of the year, and allows personal care businesses to operate outdoors in the public right-of-way.
New Business Re-openings Allowed
Nail salons may reopen effective immediately for limited indoor services at 25 percent occupancy.
Indoor shopping malls will be allowed to reopen at 25 percent maximum occupancy beginning October 7th. All food courts and all common areas remain closed per the State order.
Cardrooms may reopen for outdoor gaming only beginning October 5th. Food and beverages may not be served in cardrooms at this time
These businesses may re-open only after the County publishes the new protocols on its webpage. The County will publish new protocols over the coming week. Businesses must operate in compliance with all the newly issued County protocols.
Outdoor Playgrounds Re-open on Saturday, October 3
Culver City outdoor playgrounds will reopen on Saturday, October 3rd. Culver City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services staff has thoroughly sanitized all playground equipment at City parks and will continue to do so twice daily. Parents and children age two years old and older must always wear a cloth face covering, avoid people not in their household, and sanitize hands before and after using playground equipment. There is no eating or drinking allowed at playgrounds. Indoor playgrounds remain closed.
Mandatory Posting of Community Workforce Resources Poster
All businesses that have reopened must post the Culver City Community Workforce Resources Poster, in both English and Spanish, no later than October 16, 2020. The Poster must be placed in a visually accessible location in proximity to other employee postings. The Posters may be downloaded via the City’s website. The poster consists of two pages and shall be printed on letter size paper with dimensions of 8.5” x 11”, in portrait orientation. It may be printed in black and white or color. A limited number of Posters are available for those without access to a printer, by emailing the City or calling (310) 253-5765.
Continued Waiver of Outdoor Dining and Valet Parking License Fees.
The City will continue to waive outdoor dining license fees and valet parking license fees through December 31, 2020.
Personal Care Services May Operate Outdoors in the Public Right of Way, with a City Permit
Personal care establishments, including esthetician, skin care and cosmetology services, nail salons, massage therapy (in a non-healthcare setting), salons and barbershops, may temporarily expand services outdoors into the public right-of-way, subject to receipt of a City Temporary Use Permit. More information is available online about how to apply for a City Temporary Use Permit to use the public right-of-way. Personal Care Establishments operating in the right of way shall comply with all State of California Public Health Orders and Guidance, County Public Health protocols, and Culver City rules, and regulations.
Regular Parking Enforcement Begins on October 15th
The City will begin enforcing normal parking rules on October 15, 2020. Relaxed parking enforcement, which has been in place for several months, will end on October 14, 2020. The City will resume enforcement of street sweeping restrictions, parking enforcement around closed schools, and other rules.
