Citywide Coronavirus Update - May 27, 2020

Do You Need a Volunteer?
1. More Are Re-opening, but It’s Still Safer at Home
As we re-open more types of businesses (see below), more people being around one another can result in the further spread of COVID-19 and more hospitalizations and deaths. Because there is a 14-day incubation period for COVID-19, the actions everyone takes today will impact where numbers are in two or three weeks.
The best protection against COVID-19 continues to be to:
wash your hands frequently
avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
self-isolate if you are sick
practice physical distancing, and
wear a clean face covering when in contact with others from outside your household.
People who are 65 and older and those who have underlying health conditions remain at much greater risk for serious illness from COVID-19, so it continues to be very important for the vulnerable residents to stay at home as much as possible, to have groceries and medicine delivered, and to call their providers immediately if they have even mild symptoms.
2. New Order Re-opens Indoor Retail, Offices, Houses of Worship, with Restrictions and Safety Measures
Faith-Based Organizations - Faith-based organizations may resume services, with the number of congregants limited to less than 25% of the building's capacity, or a maximum of 100 people, whichever is lower.Los Angeles County Public Health Protocols for Places of Worship must be followed.
Pools, Hot Tubs and Saunas - Pools, hot tubs and saunas that are in a multi-unit residence or part of a homeowners association may also now open.Los Angeles County Public Health guidelines must be followed at all times.
Public Protests - Individuals may participate in an in-person protest as long as attendance is limited to 25% of the area's maximum occupancy, or a maximum of 100 attendees, whichever is lower.
Entertainment Industry Studios - Entertainment industry studios and other related production establishments may resume upon authorization of the State of California Public Health Officer, and only with adherence to all State, County of Los Angeles and City issued protocols.
Outdoor Dining License Fees and Valet Parking License Fee Waivers – Outdoor dining license fees and valet parking license fees will continue to be waived, through August 31, 2020, or the termination of the Local Emergency, whichever occurs earlier.

Grocery Stores, Certified Farmers’ Markets, Farm and Produce Stands, Supermarkets, Food Banks, Convenience Stores, Wholesale Clubs, and Pharmacies
Pet Food Stores, Animal Daycare and Boarding Facilities, and Veterinary Clinics
Stores that Sell Products Needed for Your Home, such as Hardware, Building, Home Appliance, and Pool Supply Stores
Lower-Risk Retail Stores, such as Bookstores, Jewelry Stores, Furniture Stores, Toy Stores, and Clothing Stores

Restaurants and Cafes: Open for Pick-up, Drive-thru and Delivery Only
Pet Grooming
CLOSED FOR NOW
Personal Grooming, including Nail Salons, Hair Salons, and Barber Shops

OPEN: Clinics, Hospitals, Dental Clinics, Physical Therapy and Chiropractic Offices, Optometrists, Mental or Behavioral Health Providers, and other Healthcare Settings
4. Free COVID-19 Testing Available
LA County strongly encourages all LA County residents who are interested in being tested to first contact their Primary Care Provider or Healthcare Center about receiving a test a their facility. If you do not have access to this care or are unable to contact them, free testing is available across the County. Priority is given to those who meet the criteria below.
Persons with the following symptoms:
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fevers
Chills
Repeated shaking with chills
Muscle pain
Headache
Sore throat
New loss of sense of smell
OR
Persons without symptoms who meet the following criteria:

If you or someone you know has a non-emergency, non-medical need related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and you would like assistance from a volunteer, please email the City or call the City’s Coronavirus Hotline at (310) 253-6890 (Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM). If you email or leave a message at the Hotline after hours, please include your name, address, phone number, email address, and your need. In an emergency, please dial 9-1-1.
