Culver City City Council Awards 16 Performing Arts Grants
Culver City's City Council recently awarded a grand total of $83,670 in 2020 Performing Arts Grants as recommended by the Cultural Affairs Commission. Sixteen (16) non-profit arts organizations will receive grants to present theatre, dance and music performances from February to November 2020.
“This year, there will be over 40 performances presented in Culver City! These performances have become vital to keeping our creative economy vibrant," said Culver City Mayor Meghan Sahli-Wells. "On behalf of the entire City Council, we thank our partners, the Culver City Arts Foundation and Sony Pictures Entertainment, for their generous contributions to fund the Performing Arts Grants Program. We also extend thanks to the Cultural Affairs Commission and staff for managing this valuable program."
The Culver City Performing Arts Grant Program was established in 1994 as part of the City’s Art in Public Places Program, offering project grants to non-profit performing arts organizations in Los Angeles County. Under the purview of the City’s Cultural Affairs Commission, the grant program supports local arts organizations and provides Culver City residents, the business community and visitors with enriching and accessible cultural opportunities. Funding for the annual program is allocated from the City’s Cultural Trust Fund. The 2020 grant program is also supported by the Culver City Arts Foundation and Sony Pictures Entertainment. Each organization contributed $25,000.
