The
City Council will Establish the Default Renewable Energy Source Tier for the Procurement of
Electricity to the Culver City Community by the Clean Power Alliance of Southern California.
|
The City Council is pleased to invite your participation in the following item
concerning:
WHO:
The Clean Power Alliance of Southern California (Alliance) is a collective of 26 cities and counties in Southern California that will become an alternative supplier of electricity to Southern California Edison (SCE) customers. The primary goal of the Alliance is to offer its customers
electricity from sources containing a higher renewable content at rates that are
lower than SCE.
WHAT:
On December 11, 2017, the City Council joined the Clean Power Alliance of Southern California. The Alliance will be offering all SCE customers a choice when it comes to who they purchase their electricity from in the future. The Alliance will offer SCE customers the following three renewable source tiers to select from: 36%, 50% or 100%, all of which are at rates that are less than comparable SCE tiers. All SCE customers will be sent a letter that will give them the option to join the Alliance or remain with SCE.
In the event that an SCE customer does not respond to the letter however, they will be automatically enrolled as customers of the Alliance at a renewable source tier that is preselected by the City Council. Please join the discussion and participate by helping determine which renewable source tier should become the default selected for these customers.
