City Council Meetings - Zoom Participation & Public Comments
On October 3, 2025, Governor Newsom signed into law SB 707 which makes sweeping revisions to how legislative bodies conduct public meetings. SB 707 is intended to diversify and increase public engagement in local government and modernize the Ralph M. Brown Act to reflect advancements in communication technology.
Beginning with the regular City Council meeting on July 14, meetings will now be conducted with two-way teleconferencing on Zoom. The public may submit public comments in-person, on Zoom, or in writing. For each agenda item, time will be allocated first for in-person comments, followed by comments submitted via Zoom.

Upcoming City Council Discussion Regarding Rent Stabilization
During its April 14, 2026, meeting, the City Council directed staff to return at a future date with an update regarding rent stabilization. The report will be presented at the regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 6:30pm in the Council Chamber, located at 225 W. Second Street.
Meeting material is available on the City’s website and via the link below.
Bonita Avenue Overnight Parking Update
During recent City Council meetings, residents of two apartment complexes located along Bonita Avenue expressed concerns regarding the loss of overnight parking previously available through private agreements between St. Ambrose Episcopal Church and nearby tenants. Residents also expressed concerns regarding citations issued under the City's Overnight Parking Ordinance after the private parking arrangement ended.
At the direction of the City Council, staff has prepared an informational report regarding overnight parking concerns along Bonita Avenue. The report provides an overview of the City's Overnight Parking Ordinance, summarizes staff's outreach efforts, and outlines potential considerations discussed with property management.
The report will be presented at the regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 6:30pm. Meeting material is available on the City’s website and via the link below.
 Coyote Community Meeting
Claremont is located in an urban–wildlife interface, where residents may occasionally encounter coyotes. Coyotes are most active in late winter and early spring, particularly between January and March. To help protect yourself, your home, and your pets from coyotes, please follow these safety tips:
- Closely supervise small pets when outdoors
- Remove outdoor pet food and bird feeders
- Pick up fallen fruit promptly
- Regularly clean barbecue grills
- Eliminate access to water on your property, such as standing water or bird baths
Due to a recent increase in coyote sightings, the City, in partnership with Inland Valley Humane Society and the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments, will host a community workshop on coyote awareness and safety on Thursday, July 16 at 6pm. This informational meeting will be held at the Alexander Hughes Community Center.

Citizen Records Information Management System (RIMS) Web Portal
In March, the Claremont Police Department launched its CPD Citizen Records Information Management System (RIMS) web portal. Citizen RIMS is an interactive tool that provides real-time access to public safety information from our Records Information Management System.
This new platform reflects the City’s ongoing commitment to transparency and keeping our community informed with accurate, up-to-date information on police activity and incidents affecting public safety. Through the Citizen RIMS portal, you can:
- View crime and police activity on an interactive map, search by address, and apply filters to explore specific incidents
- Track monthly crime trends through easy-to-read graphs
- Access CPD media bulletins and advisories
- View arrestee information from the past 30 days
- Voluntarily register your home or business security cameras to assist CPD investigations
Citizen RIMS is funded by the California Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Fund and draws information directly from the Police Department’s CAD/RMS system.
 Household Hazardous Waste Round Up
On Saturday, July 25, the Los Angeles County Public Works Department and Sanitation Districts will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event from 9am to 3pm at the Fairplex in Pomona.
