Rental Assistance Program Update
At its April 14, 2026, meeting, the City Council allocated additional funding to the Claremont Temporary Housing Stabilization and Relocation Program to sustain the program through December 31, 2026.
Although the City stopped accepting new applications for this program on January 31, 2026, current participants will continue receiving monthly subsidy payments through December 2026, when funding is expected to run out unless additional funds are approved.

Storefront Vandalism Prevention Business Grant Program
Last year, the City Council allocated $50,000 to fund the City of Claremont’s Storefront Vandalism Prevention Business Grant (SVPBG) Program. Funding is still available for local businesses with storefronts that may be vulnerable to vandalism or burglary.
Through the SVPBG Program, the City offers grants of up to $2,000 to support the installation of shatter-resistant window film. These improvements help prevent or reduce damage caused by vandalism or break-ins.

Pooch Park Temporary Closure
The Pooch Park will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, April 1 to Friday, May 1, 2026, for biannual turf maintenance and resting period.
This yearly scheduled maintenance is to ensure the turf remains healthy. This City's landscape contractor will aerate the turf, flush dog urine, remove invasive weeds, and allow the turf to rest. These routine maintenance activities allow for the turf to remain healthy and vibrant during the warmer months.
During the closure, residents may visit other Claremont parks that are pet friendly, which include the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, Thompson Creek Trail, and Rancho San Jose Park. Residents may also visit pooch parks in adjacent cities, such as San Dimas, Upland, Ontario, and Rancho Cucamonga.

Road Closure - Taste of Claremont
Mills Avenue will be closed between First Street and the railroad crossing on Saturday, April 18, from 4pm to 10pm for Claremont Rotary’s 25th annual Taste of Claremont.
The event is expected to draw hundreds of community members who will gather to socialize and sample some of Claremont’s best local cuisine, all while raising funds for nonprofit organizations making a positive impact both locally and globally.
Residents are encouraged to plan alternate routes and allow extra travel time to avoid delays in the area during the event.
Street Improvements - Mills Avenue
Beginning Monday, April 20, 2026, the City’s contractor, We R Builders, will begin installing street improvements along Mills Avenue between Moreno Street and Arrow Highway. Work will include:
- removal of existing asphalt
- the construction of a raised intersection with colored stamped pavement
- roadway striping
- ladder-style crosswalks and green bike lanes
- signage installations
- the construction of ADA-accessible ramps
Construction is expected to last approximately four (4) weeks. To accommodate this work, Mills Avenue will be closed 24 hours a day between Moreno Street and Oakdale Drive for two (2) weeks, from Monday, April 20 through Friday, May 1. The roadway will reopen on Saturdays and Sundays.
Residents will be able to access their homes and driveways along Mills Avenue in coordination with the contractor during the full closure; however, there may be times when driveways are temporarily inaccessible. Street parking will be available along Cucamonga Avenue (between Mills Avenue and Sycamore Avenue) and Oakdale Drive (between Mills Avenue and Arrow Highway). Overnight parking restrictions on these streets will be suspended during the closure period.
For questions during construction, please contact the Engineering Division at (909) 399-5465.
Claremont Hills Wilderness Park - Intermittent Trail Closures
New vault restroom facilities will be installed at the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. During construction, portions of the Cobal and Burbank trails may be temporarily closed to ensure the safe operation of heavy equipment and construction crews. Closures will occur at trail junctions, and alternative routes will remain available. Closure areas will be clearly marked with signage and will only remain closed while work is actively underway.
We kindly ask all visitors to respect posted closures for their safety and to allow crews to complete this important park improvement. Violation of posted trail closure may result in citation or arrest. CMC 11.10.050(C)
