Pomona Valley Transportation Authority - Transportation Study
The Pomona Valley Transportation Authority (PVTA) is initiating a comprehensive study to assess its current transportation service network. This effort will examine ridership patterns, identify service gaps, explore opportunities for consolidation, and develop recommendations aimed at reducing costs while improving efficiency, reliability, and accessibility for residents throughout the PVTA service area.
As part of this process, PVTA will host a community workshop on Wednesday, March 25 at 1pm at the Joslyn Senior Center (660 N. Mountain Ave.). Community members are encouraged to attend and share their feedback on existing services and future needs.

Applications for 2027 Padua Hills Theatre Community Use Program Now Open
The City of Claremont Padua Hills Theatre Community Use Program reserves dates each year for local non-profit organizations interested in hosting community events at substantially reduced rates. This program offers a unique opportunity for non-profits and the City of Claremont to host community events in an exquisite, historic setting. The Padua Hills Theatre Community Use Committee is now accepting applications for events that will take place between January 1 and December 31, 2027.

How to Have Culturally Inclusive Conversations - Panel Discussion and Workshop
The City of Claremont’s Committee on Human Relations will be hosting a community panel discussion on How to Have Culturally Inclusive Conversations in 2026. The event, overseen by CPS HR, will be held on Thursday, April 16, at 6:30pm at the Alexander Hughes Community Center, and will feature a diverse panel comprised of experts from CPS HR. C.E.R.T. Car Show Fundraiser
 Claremont’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) offers free emergency preparedness training to equip residents with the skills and confidence to respond during a crisis. While these valuable trainings are provided at no cost, community support helps maintain essential equipment and medical supplies.
Support CERT’s mission by attending their Car Show fundraiser on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 9am to 1:30pm at Claremont Toyota (601 Auto Center Dr., Claremont). The event will feature free health and safety booths, including glucose testing by Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, CPR demonstrations, fire extinguisher guidance, emergency evacuation kit displays, and a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross—click here to register for the blood drive.

Polling for Local Sales Tax Measure
During its regular meeting on March 10, 2026, the City Council voted to engage Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates (FM3 Research) to conduct a 20-minute dual-mode survey to gauge voter interest in a potential local sales tax ballot measure for the November 2026 General Election. The survey will be administered to a random sample of up to 400 registered voters in the City of Claremont who are likely to participate in the November 2026 election. Survey materials will be available in both English and Spanish and will be conducted online and by telephone.

Pooch Park Temporary Closure
The Pooch Park will be temporarily closed from Wednesday, April 1 to Friday, May 1, 2026, for biannual turf maintenance and resting period.
This yearly scheduled maintenance is to ensure the turf remains healthy. This City's landscape contractor will aerate the turf, flush dog urine, remove invasive weeds, and allow the turf to rest. These routine maintenance activities allow for the turf to remain healthy and vibrant during the warmer months.
During the closure, residents may visit other Claremont parks that are pet friendly, which include the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, Thompson Creek Trail, and Rancho San Jose Park. Residents may also visit pooch parks in adjacent cities, such as San Dimas, Upland, Ontario, and Rancho Cucamonga.

Cooling Center
 With high temperatures expected this week, it is important to remember to take precautions to stay cool and hydrated.
The Alexander Hughes Community Center (1700 Danbury Rd.) will serve as a cooling center from Monday, March 16 through Saturday, March 21 during regular operating hours.
Hours of Operation:

Friday: 9am to 6pm

Saturday: 9am to 2pm
Cooling centers are free of charge and are intended for individuals who need relief from the heat. Vulnerable populations, including older adults and those without air conditioning, are especially encouraged to take advantage of this resource.

Free Energy Assessments and Rebates
Southern California Edison (SCE) customers can take advantage of the Home Performance Plus program, which provides free Home Energy Assessments and rebates to support cost‑effective efficiency upgrades. The program is open to both homeowners and renters. The assessment helps residents understand home energy use and identifies opportunities to improve comfort and efficiency.
Participating residents may be eligible for more than $5,000 in rebates on energy-saving upgrades, including:
- Electric heat pumps
- Heat pump water heaters
- Insulation
- A variety of other energy‑efficient home improvements

Earth Day Celebration
Get ready to celebrate the Earth with us! The City and Sustainable Claremont will be hosting the annual Earth Day Celebration on Sunday, April 19. The 2026 celebration will be held in the heart of Claremont’s historic village neighborhood at Shelton Park from 8:30am to 1pm. This event will take place on the same day as Claremont’s Farmer Market, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere with a diverse crowd.
