Los Angeles County Emergency Rental Assistance Program
After initially limiting applications to landlords, Los Angeles County opened a second round of its emergency rent relief program on Monday, February 9, 2026, for those impacted by the 2025 wildfires and households experiencing emergency financial hardships.
In this round, tenants may initiate applications, which can result in assistance for past-due rent and utility payments. Eligible households may receive up to $15,000 in assistance. All award payments are made directly to landlords or property owners, who apply the funds toward clearing outstanding rent or utility balances on behalf of the tenant. The application period for tenants closes on March 11, 2026, at 4:59pm.
For more information or to submit an application, please visit LA County’s Rent Relief Program webpage below.
Bear Safety Tips
Bears are naturally more active during certain times of year as they travel through the area looking for food and water. As temperatures change and natural food sources shift, bears may move closer to trails and neighborhoods.
Increased bear activity has been observed in the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park in recent weeks. If you encounter a bear, remember these important safety tips:
- Leave room for the bear to escape
- Do NOT run. Move slowly.
- Make yourself appear large.
- Pick up your children or pets.
- Do NOT yell/shout at the animal
- Do NOT climb a tree
If the bear is behaving aggressively, please report it to the Claremont Police Department at (909) 626-1296.
