Annual PD Toy Drive
Saturday, December 13 @ Police Station
The holiday season is here, and the Claremont Police Department is excited to host its Annual Toy Drive to benefit local children in need!
In collaboration with the Axel Garcia Family, we invite you to join us on Saturday, December 13, from 8am to 2pm at the Claremont Police Department.
How to Help:
- Bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate on the day of the event.
- Can’t make it that day? Drop off your toy donations anytime during the week leading up to the drive!
All collected toys will be distributed to deserving children in Claremont and the surrounding community. Let’s come together to make the season brighter for local families!
Save the Dates – City Council Priorities Planning 2026-28
In early 2026, the City Council will develop a list of objectives and work items to guide staff’s work plan for the 2026-28 budget cycle. As part of this process, there will be several opportunities for public participation:
Citywide Survey

Community Outreach Forums
The City hired a facilitator to host two community outreach forums:

January 7, 2026, at 6pm (in-person only). This session will be held in the Padua Room at the Alexander Hughes Community Center.

January 14, 2026, at 6pm (virtual only). A link will be available on the City’s website at a later date.
Priorities Workshop
The City Council Priorities Workshop will take place on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 9am. This meeting will be held in-person in the Council Chamber and there will be an opportunity for in-person public comment (same structure as regular City Council meetings). All public comments received via the survey and during the community outreach forums will be shared with the City Council for its consideration prior to the Workshop.

Here is a summary of City Council action from the regular meeting held on December 9, 2025.
Applicants Sought for Independence Day Committee
Application Deadline Extended to January
Residents interested in taking a more active role in the City’s decision-making process are encouraged to apply for appointment to a committee. Applications are currently being sought for appointment to the Independence Day Committee (IDC).
The IDC was established to advise the Community and Human Services Commission on information related to the Fourth of July Celebration and recommend policies and regulations to govern the celebration. Committee members will be called upon to help develop goals and outcomes of the celebration, engage the community, and review and evaluate programs.

Senior Program News
Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program- December 15
Free in-person Medicare counseling is available to LA County residents at the Joslyn Center on the third Monday of each month, with appointments at 11am, 12pm, and 1pm. The Center for Health Care Rights offers assistance on various topics, including Medicare enrollment, supplemental plans, prescription costs, and more. This program is by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please call the Center for Health Care Rights at (213) 383-4519.
Senior Program Registration Opens December 16
The Winter/Spring Season starts Monday, January 5, 2026. Activities will be open for registration on Tuesday, December 16. One-on-one registration assistance will be available December 15-17 from 9am to 1pm at the Joslyn Center. Fall 2025 activities will remain available throughout the remainder of 2025. TRACKS Activity Center (Grades 7-8)
TAC December Calendar
Candy Cane Building On Tuesday, December 16, from 3pm to 4pm, the TAC will host a festive STEM challenge. Participants will use problem solving and engineering skills to build candy cane themed structures. It is a holiday twist on hands-on learning that blends creativity with teamwork.
Frostival Holiday Celebration On Wednesday, December 17, from 1:15pm to 3pm, the TAC will host its first annual Frostival Holiday Event. Participants will enjoy winter themed activities, games, music, and treats as we celebrate the season together.
Youth Activity Center (Grades 9-12)
YAC December Calendar
Teen Committee Blanket Builders On Wednesday, December 17, from 3:45pm to 5pm, the Teen Committee will lead a cozy and purposeful blanket making workshop. Participants will create tie blankets for community support while building leadership and teamwork skills. All blankets will be donated to House of Ruth.
TAC & YAC Closure TAC and YAC will close at 3:30pm on Thursday, December 18, and will reopen during regular hours on Friday, December 19. Thank you for your understanding.

SPECIAL EVENTS & COMMUNITY NEWS
The Los Angeles County Sanitation District will host a FREE Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Drive-Thru Collection Event on Saturday, December 20 from 9am to 3pm at the Brackett Field in La Verne.
HHW items includes any product labeled: toxic, poison, combustible, corrosive, flammable, or irritant. Common types of HHW include electronic waste, paints, pesticides, lubricants, drain cleaners, fluorescent light bulbs, prescription medication, and batteries. There is a limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste per trip.
Household hazardous waste and electronic waste should be carefully placed in a sturdy box, preferably in their original containers. Items should be secured in the trunk or truck bed with no other items for efficient collection. Sharps disposal will require exiting your vehicle to deposit them in a bin.
