Homicide Investigation
On Friday, September 26, 2025, at approximately 10:58 p.m., the Claremont Police Department received a 9-1-1 call of a fight in progress at Motel 6 located at 840 S. Indian Hill Blvd., in Claremont. As officers were responding to the location, the caller stated there was possibly a victim of a stabbing. CPD officers arrived on-scene and located one victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. CPD officers, along with the Los Angeles County Fire Department, rendered medical aid to the victim.
The victim was transported by ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC), where he was pronounced deceased. The crime scene was secured, and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau was contacted to conduct the investigation.
The identity of the suspect is currently unknown, and the individual remains outstanding. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Claremont Police Department at (909) 399-5411.
 The Pink Patch Project Returns
Claremont officers will be wearing special pink patches on their uniforms during “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” this October. The pink patches are designed to stimulate conversation within the community and promote public awareness about early detection and treatment in the fight against this disease.
As part of this program, the Claremont Police Department will be selling its commemorative pink patches to the community. The Claremont commemorative patches will be available for purchase at the Claremont Police Department for $10. This year, the Claremont Police Department has chosen to donate all proceeds generated from the sales of their patches to fund cancer research at the City of Hope. City of Hope is an independent research and treatment center for cancer, diabetes, and other life-threatening diseases. City of Hope is designated as one of only 47 comprehensive cancer centers, the highest recognition bestowed by the National Cancer Institute.
Sixth Street and College Water Main Project
Golden State Water is working on a water main replacement project on Sixth Street from Harvard to Mills Avenues. During construction hours, Sixth Street will be reduced to one lane of traffic. The street will be temporarily restored with asphalt each evening for the safety of drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Staff anticipates the project construction will last until early December. Once construction is complete, the street will be properly repaved and restriped per City Standards.
Southern California Edison Overhead Power Line Work
Southern California Edison’s contractor will remove and replace overhead power lines on Olive Street overnight beginning Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 6 p.m. and continuing through Friday, October 3, 2025, at 6 a.m. The work is being scheduled outside of normal business hours to allow for a temporary power shutoff necessary to complete the project safely.
Traffic control devices will be in place on both Olive Street and Green Street to accommodate work trucks and equipment. While the streets will remain open to traffic, drivers are advised to use caution and follow posted signs and directions from crews.
A City public works inspector will be on-site throughout the project to ensure traffic control measures are properly implemented and all permit conditions are met.
Online Permit Portal Open for Short-Term Rentals
The City allows hosted short-term rentals of homes and accessory dwelling units (ADUs) with a permit. There is a limited number of permits that will be allowed for each zone of the City. The zones follow the City Council district boundaries. To apply for a permit, homeowners must register using the online portal and submit the required documents to the City. The permit process requires neighborhood noticing, a safety inspection, and signed affidavit.
The City has also established a hotline and online neighbor complaint form for residents to submit information on non-compliant or unpermitted short-term rentals. Learn more.

- Accessibility and language assistance services.
- Voter education and outreach efforts to ensure that every community has the information and resources needed to participate.
The Draft EAP is updated regularly and shaped by input from community members, advocacy groups, and election experts. Below are links to the draft plan, the public hearing schedule, and public comment form.
