City Council Meeting
September 9, 2025
The next regular meeting of the City Council is Tuesday, September 9 at 6:30pm. City Council meetings are open to the public for in-person attendance. Meetings are live streamed on Zoom, but speakers are not able to provide public comment on Zoom or telephone. Public comment can be made in person or in writing by email/mail.
November 11 Council Meeting Cancelled Due to Holiday
Special City Council Meeting to be held on November 12, 2025
Since the Veterans Day holiday falls on the November 11 regular City Council meeting date, the meeting has been moved to Wednesday, November 12 at 6:30pm as a Special Meeting. The City Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30pm in the Council Chamber. Agendas are posted on the website and at City Hall the Thursday evening before the meeting.
Special Needs & Inclusion
Fall Ball Dance
On Friday, September 19, the City will be hosting its second annual Fall Ball for those with special needs and their families. This event will be held from 6pm to 9pm at the YAC, with the first hour set aside as a family dance for those 5-12 years old, and the second two hours will be for those 13 and older. New! Qi Gong - Mondays
Discover a new way to boost your energy and mental clarity through gentle, meditative movements that connect breath with motion in this new class. This relaxing class is designed to improve posture, circulation, and focus—perfect for older adults looking to feel more balanced and refreshed. The activity meets on the 2nd Monday of each month from 4pm to 5pm at the Joslyn Center, starting on September 8. Registration is required. Don’t wait; register today! Movie Matinee @ Joslyn – September 12
Enjoy FREE snacks and watch the film La La Land at the Joslyn Center on Friday, September 12 at 12:30pm. Aspiring actress Mia (Emma Stone) and dedicated jazz musician Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) struggle to make ends meet while pursuing their dreams in a city known for destroying hopes and breaking hearts. With modern-day Los Angeles as the backdrop, this musical about everyday life explores what’s more important: a once-in-a-lifetime love or the spotlight. This drop-in activity occurs every 2nd Friday, with a new movie each month.
AARP Smart Driver | Two-Day Course - September 22 - 23
This classroom-based defensive driving course will be held from 9:30am to 1:30pm on Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23, and is designed for individuals 50 and older who wish to sharpen their driving skills. By taking this course, individuals will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and how to operate a vehicle more safely in today's environment. After eight hours of instruction, a DMV certificate will be issued entitling participants to a discount on their automobile insurance.
Materials fee: $25 ($20 for AARP members) in cash or check due to the instructor on the first day of class. Please bring your AARP membership card to pay the discounted materials fee.
