City Ventures Neighborhood Meeting - April 23
City Ventures will host a neighborhood meeting for their proposed project located on the Motel 6 tennis courts and grass area. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 23 from 6pm to 8pm at the Denny’s Restaurant, located at 820 S Indian Hill Boulevard.
City Ventures has submitted an application to the City to redevelop the 2.99-acre property located at 840 S Indian Hill Boulevard. This property is currently operated by a tennis club. The proposed project is a for-sale, single-family attached community comprised of 70 two and three-story homes. Each home has at least two bedrooms, at least two bathrooms, and a two-car attached garage. The developer will be presenting the plans for the site and addressing questions and comments from the local community. City Ventures sent notices for the meeting to the properties in a 700-foot radius from the project site. This is not a City meeting.
Drug Take-Back Event - April 26
The Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) is partnering with Claremont PD for a Drug Take-Back Event on Saturday, April 26 from 10am to 2pm at the Claremont Police Department. KGI School of Pharmacy students and Police Department volunteers will accept unneeded or expired medications. Medications can be in solid or liquid form. Inhalers and sharps (syringes, insulin pens, lancets) will also be accepted. The medications will be weighed and packaged by Police Department personnel and then transferred to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for final disposal.
KGI will also provide overdose education including free naloxone and fentanyl test strips given to anyone interested. Students will also be set up to do blood pressure and BMI screenings.
Pooch Park Temporary Closure in April
The Pooch Park is temporarily closed through Thursday, May 1 for biannual turf maintenance. This yearly scheduled maintenance is to ensure the turf remains healthy.
The City’s landscape contractor will remove weed grasses and aerate the turf. Aeration is the process of coring holes into the turf so oxygen, water, and nutrients can penetrate the soil. It also breaks up soil that has become compacted and hardened due to heavy use. These routine maintenance activities allow for the turf to remain healthy and vibrant during the warmer months.
During the closure, residents may visit other Claremont parks that are pet friendly, which include the Claremont Hills Wilderness Park, Thompson Creek Trail, and Rancho San Jose Park. Residents may also visit pooch parks in adjacent cities, such as San Dimas, Upland, Ontario, and Rancho Cucamonga.
