City Council to Consider Ordinance - March 11
At its March 11 meeting, the City Council will consider an ordinance that would regulate the short-term rental of homes in Claremont. Short-term rentals are rentals of less than 30 days and typically rent through a booking website like Airbnb or Vrbo. Currently, the City does not allow home rentals under 30 days in duration. The Council will consider the Planning Commission's recommendation to adopt an ordinance allowing short-term rentals with specific regulations and prohibitions. You may submit comments by clicking the link below.
Anti-Harassment Ordinance Listening Sessions
At the direction of the City Council, two listening sessions have been scheduled to receive feedback from landlords and tenants on an Anti-Harassment Ordinance. These are not Brown Act meetings and no decisions regarding the ordinance will be made at the listening sessions. The listening sessions are an opportunity for staff to receive feedback from the community before the City Council considers the ordinance at a later date. Everyone is encouraged to attend these listening sessions, and they are open to the public.
The first listening session will be held virtually on Thursday, March 13 at 6:30pm. The second listening session will be held in person at 6:30pm on Thursday, March 20 in the Padua Room at the Alexander Hughes Community Center (1700 Danbury Road).
Information on how to participate in the virtual listening session has been posted on the City’s website. If you are unable to attend both listening sessions and still want to submit your comments, you may do so in writing. Written public comment can be submitted directly to Deputy City Manager Katie Wand via email (kwand@claremontca.gov) or if you wish to submit feedback anonymously, you can use the form on the Tenant Assistance webpage. This form can be submitted without entering your name and/or email address. All feedback and correspondence will be shared with the City Council.
