Storm Preparedness
Sandbags Available
The National Weather Service anticipates that the current and upcoming storms will bring heavy rain and flooding. City crews have prepared for the storms by clearing storm drains, evaluating potential flood areas, and training staff on emergency response. Sandbags are available at all Claremont fire stations. Please bring a shovel to fill the bags. Residents will need to fill and load their bags.
The Claremont Hills Wilderness Park is closed due to storm conditions and flash flood warnings. The park will remain closed until the storm passes and trails are dry. Hiking or riding on wet trails causes damage that results in further erosion and longer closures.

Urban Forest News
Reforestation
Over 90 trees have been planted so far this season as part of the City's Reforestation Program. All newly planted trees will receive weekly watering for the first 90-days, as necessary. After the 90-day period, a water bag will be installed. New tree requests will be taken until March 2025. Community Services rolled out a pilot yard sign program to bring awareness to the Reforestation Program. Every property that accepts a new tree will have a yard sign installed. The yard sign acts as a visual representation of a new tree and has a QR code that leads directly to the website where you can learn about the importance of the urban forest and request a new tree. The signs will be removed by the City's contractor and returned to the City once the new tree is planted. More...
