COVID-19 updates from the City of Cerritos - October 16, 2020

The City’s walking tracks at Cerritos Park East and Liberty Park reopened on October 12.

Cerritos City Council meetings will resume being held in the Council Chambers beginning Thursday, October 22. To protect public health and safety during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in compliance with Los Angeles County and County of Los Angeles Public Health guidelines, only the Council and limited staff will be allowed in the Council Chambers and it will not be open to the public. The public can continue to participate in the meetings through the following electronic methods:

  • The public can observe the meeting via livestream on the City’s website at cerritos.us and on Cerritos TV3.
  • Members of the public may provide public comment through the following methods:
    • Email: Members of the public may submit an email to city_clerk@cerritos.us by 3 p.m. on the day of the meeting. Please identify the meeting date and agenda item number for which you would like to provide comment in the subject line of the email.
    • Teleconference Participation: The public may provide audio public comment by connecting to the teleconference meeting online or by telephone/mobile call.

The City continues to carefully monitor State and County information about when and how City facilities will be allowed to reopen, and will provide updates as they become available. Los Angeles County is currently reporting a total of 615 cases of COVID-19 and 17 deaths due to COVID-19 in Cerritos. There are 25 reported cases of COVID-19 in the unincorporated area of Cerritos. The City’s website has a link titled “Novel Coronavirus in Los Angeles County” that opens a page with information about the number of cases in cities throughout the County.

Los Angeles County Free Food Drive-Thru Giveaway

Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn is holding a Free Food Drive-Thru Giveaway on Thursday, October 22 from 9 a.m. to noon at The Gardens Casino located at 11871 E. Carson Street in Hawaiian Gardens. Free food will be available to Los Angeles County residents impacted by COVID-19. The food will be distributed through a drive-thru only; no walk-ups will be allowed. No eligibility is required, and participants are asked to please wear a face covering. Line formation begins at 8:30 a.m.
